Actually, I have a fear of being the last one awake, and it puts me into a huge panic. This is something I used to experience when I was around 10 years old and I would get such anxiety at night. Somehow I grew out of it, but my sleep anxiety is back. Has anyone ever heard of something like this before?

Sorry I have not but
I am wondering what caused it to start back then that changed
and thus altered the way you felt about sleep
has something happened recently that may be the cause of it
take a look at what you can see then and now are they almost a
mirror of each other?.

Oh hon, how tough!

Are you seeing anyone about this?

Since I have had issues with Anxiety Disorder, night can be the hardest time of day for me. It can also be tough as the days get shorter. Winter is the hardest time of the year. My psych dr put me on ambien, but I still have trouble sleeping on occasion. (Part of that is due to me increasing my Adderall dosage with my Dr, but it passes after a while).

I would check with a regular doctor about this and see if they have any recommendations.

Good luck!

I'm really sorry ginger... That's hard... I used to be afraid of being the last one awake as well but I knew why. I was afraid if I was the last one up that everyone would be gone when I woke. I was also afraid of being the first one awake and the last one up because I was afraid of what people might do while I slept...

(((((((((ginger))))))))))) I hope you have a t that you can talk to about this and I'm really sorry you are going through this, it must be really hard!

The anxiety is lessening since I've been back on my A/D's, but it still freaks me out. I don't know what the connection is between now and my childhood, but it's there. I've tried all kinds of sleep med's, including Ambien and they do not work well with me.

I've got to find a nice natural pace to fall alseep or I won't sleep one wink.

I had that exact same thing when I was younger! I am 18 years old now and I recall so clearly how terrified I was of being the last one asleep. There was no logical reason I could figure out behind why I felt this anxiety. It was around the age of 10 for me as well and fortunatley I do not have it anymore. I used to have to watch the same movie every night to help me fall asleep, or I would watch a really boring sport on tv. Sorry not much help on what or why this happens but at least we know we aren't alone.
