Having some sleep issues, be careful, dont go running to your MD or Pdoc and ask for meds. medications come with side effects and such. and i know some of you may have insomnia and need those meds to get to sleep BUT PLEASE first try something like this

10/15mg of Meletonin (its natural) and some Tylenol PM (or generic pm) 2 pills (whats reccommended)... this can help, try this first

Tried melatonin and got major headaches because of it. Watch how much tylenol you take too - can ruin your liver, especially if you have any alcohol while taking it.

Every med, prescription or not has it's risks

This may help. Usually when we go to bed we bring everything (baggage) with us.
So instead of falling asleep we begin to wander within our minds, with unsettled buisness.
So to distract our minds what I suggest deep breathing along with counting backwards starting with 99. Each number should take a couple of breathes, breathing in to a full chest and as you breathe out, inwardly feel that deep exhale releasing all the tension you may have in your body all the way to your lower back. Stay with each number you may recognize some numbers are more comfortable stay as long as you like or continue to the next. You can also use a visual picture if you want relaxing under the warmth of the sun/or lying outside under the stars. Outside thoughts suggest to the mind of openess or if tight spaces soothes you picture that.
So with a visual picture, the brain working the nimbers, and the deep breathing/releasing you should fall asleep within a few minutes.
This will also benefite your heartrate as you relax.
I hope this helps.

I'd have to reiterate what nicoleb2 said about the Tylenol. It might be ok for occasional use, but long term it will cause liver damage. Tylenol should not be confused with Aspirin, which you can take daily for heart health.

I'm a NyQuil or Benadryl fan myself. Melatonin has been linked to depression...so as a depressive, I avoid it

Losing sleep and not sleeping well is horrible. It is actually bad for you to not sleep properly.

Lack of sleep sucks the life out of me, makes me feel even more grumpy, depressed, anxious and miserable.

I'll take whatever Rx the doctor will give me, so I can get some good deep restorative sleep that doesn't make me feel awful in the AM.

Thanks, though.
