I had awful akathisia on high doses of Seroquel, but not on low doses. It also did not work for me as an anti-manic agent, but it sure helped me sleep soundly. I read here on this board that people take as little as 50 mg for sleep and are happy with the results. I wonder if it loses effectiveness over time. I have seen Trazodone and Benadryl and Temazepame lose effectiveness, but was thinking that perhaps anti-psychotics do not lose effectiveness.

Will appreciate opinions from long term users.

I'm curious too about the low dose and sleep over time. I've developed tolerance to many meds.
Thanks for this!

That's something to ask your Dr about. Please let us know what you find out though

Will do. I have a friend who is a p-doc and he says that APs, unlike tranquilizers, do not lose effectiveness. That would be good if it is true!

APs and ADs tend to require you increase dosage for a while but they do eventually plateau and remain steady.

I take 75 mg. for sleep and it hasn't lost effectiveness for me. I was started out at 300 mg. about 4 1/2 years ago, which was much too high for me, and I've been on 75 now for about 1 1/2 years and it works fine, usually (unless I'm too stressed about something, then not much works).
Thanks for this!
