For the last month, I've had this recurring dream that I overdose on pills or plan on doing it, and every time I have people chasing me to try to stop me. I don't prefer overdose if I had to choose a method. So, I don't understand why I keep having this dream. Every single night! I am not suicidal right now and I still had the dream last night too. Last night's dream was the closest to death I've been in a dream. I swallowed many random pills, and laid there and began drifting off into a peaceful state of mind, where I heard sounds of nature and birds, and a soft piano music.
I'm really getting tired of every night's dreams being either of these; suicide attempts, being chased by security officers or police, meeting up again with this one police officer that's dealt with me many times, or somebody hurting me.

How can I dream something different?

That must be scary. Have u talked to a therapist or anyone about it? I think sometimes dreams don't Necessarily mean anything, but sometimes, esp if it's a recurring dream, it may be triggered from something in your subconsious.
Hope the bad dreams go away!

Dreams are the effect of our actions.
They reflect our state of mind.
You got some issues in your life?

The pills killed the harsh anxieties in yourself, allowing you be in the more peaceful part of yourself. It is OK to feel good. No need to feel guilty about it.

A recurring dream is trying to get our attention. You need to work with the dream and see if you can figure out what it might be saying to you (we cannot since you're the one making it up so they're your symbols :-)

I'd write out the dream, as you have already here, and then write out various different scenarios. What would happening if you got angry and turned around and told them to stop chasing you, to leave you alone? What if you got away and then sat on the ground and "sorted" the pills and decided to take only the "blue" ones :-)

The pills could represent something else, like anxieties as Thunder Bow suggests, or they could just be another way of "running away". It would be like you have these pills but they aren't enough because you also have these people chasing you; things are twice as hard. What if you wrote up the dream making a waking version of the story start further back; where do the pills come from?

You have police chasing you; what if that's because you stole the pills and the police want you to give them back. You had, as Thunder Bow again suggests, a "peaceful" good feeling thing going when you took them; what if they are good things and some part of you (the police/controlling/rule keeper part of you) doesn't think you "deserve" good things? What if you let the police catch you and you willingly gave back the pills?

Just paying attention to the dream and trying to figure it out will tell your mind you "care" and have gotten its "message"/are paying attention and the dream should not happen as often/again, particularly if you "do" something about what you decide the message is for you.

If you are trying to keep hold of your anxieties and/or run away from solving your problems, your Self is not going to let you get away with that, it's not healthy; it will probably keep giving you that dream or a similar one.

Have you tried really relaxing before going to bed? No caffeine, no stimulation like video games or violent tv programs or exercise. Drink some nice herbal tea and meditate on something calm and relaxing, going to a safe place before going to sleep. This may help reduce your anxiety and keep the anxious thoughts from coming out in your dreams.
