Maybe this would be an interest to any one on this thread?

They found a reduction in the integrity of night owls' white matter – brain tissue largely comprised of fatty insulating material that speeds up the transmission of nerve signals – in areas associated with depression.

But its another sleepless night, and here I am. 2:42am and still going.....

Hey to all of you fellow night owls! It's almost 4am here in Michigan and I am bored out of my mind. Wishing I knew more people who were up at this hour besides myself and my Fiance, who is busy working.

Its almost 4am here too in New York, there aren't too many people up at this hour, but there are a few of us hanging around playing games and answering threads.

Welcome fellow night owl!

Welcome fellow night owl!
Thank you! Nice to know I can come here and have some people to talk to! I am actually tired for a change but waiting for my Fiance to finish up work. I generally try to be asleep before 5am, although that doesn't always happen, not even with my sleep meds! Sometimes I just get really manic at these early (err.. late?) hours. Hoping that won't happen tonight!

I try to be asleep before 5am too. Usually I used to sleep at 3am and sleep for 12 hours and be well rested. But that doesn't happen too often these days. I am tired too, I will probably crash in a little bit. I have to take my meds yet, I usually don't take them and stay on the computer because I feel they don't work when I do that.

I guess I am a bit manic too. My mind is actually racing right now.

Ah, I hate when my mind races... and it does the majority of that as soon as my head hits the pillow! I will take my meds here in a few as he is almost done working. I have to take my meds, eat a snack and then lay down or they generally don't work. What do you take for sleep if you don't mind me asking?

I used to take Ambien when I used to work. That used to knock me out and worked pretty good for a while, till my tolerance built up and it wasn't effective anymore. I have bipolar so I take Haldol and to sleep my doctor gave me Trazodone for anxiety and sleep.

What do you take?

I had the same problem with Ambien! And I am also on Haldol and Trazodone, along with Klonopin and Zyprexa (as needed) and Lamictal ( I think that's the only non-sedating one, lol! ) I also take meds for back pain. Oh, and I have Borderline Personality Disoder btw. Anyway, I will wish you a good nights sleep and that the mania will settle down soon! Goodnight and thanks for the chat!

I have had a bad week of sleep.
Last Night I got 6 hours of sleep!
Today I resolved some issues, and hope I get the rest I need tonight.
I enjoy the night/early am when everyone else is sleeping, I am calm.
But if I can't sleep because of physical pain or issues on my mind then its torturous.

Since I started working again, I've gotten in a really bad habit of coming home and taking a nap. So I slept like 2 hours, now I can't get back to sleep grr guess it's my own fault, but I'm always so exhausted I couldn't keep myself awake

The same thing used to happen to me! The way I fixed that pattern is I drank a small cup of coffee (I don't really drink that much coffee anymore), around 3pm so it kept me up when I came home from work, that way I didn't go right to sleep. I was so exhausted too.

Hopefully that helps you!

You're staring at the ceiling, I'm listening to the tv and posting on PC.

My T asks me what I do all night too, I don't really have an answer for him sometimes. Its amazing, its so quiet. So peaceful, yet my mind is racing and going crazy. I am so tired yet I can't sleep.

I usually watch something on NetFlix, but my head was racing too so I turned it off because I think my thoughts were louder, ugh... And you are right, it's amazing how quiet it is. If only my head would shut up?? I hope you can sleep soon.
