Hope you can get some sleep tonight! I was sleepy, but a smoke detector's batteries are beeping. I tried to get them out to no avail. No use trying to wake up my husband, he's impossible to wake up! I really envy him lol

So this has been an old thread, but I find myself up again!

This is crazy, I finally have a job now, so I can't be up all night like I used to be. Any other Night Owls out there tonight?

I was up all night last night and throughout the day, so I can't do two nights in a row.

Congrats on the new job btw, LadyShadow.

Thanks a lot! It seems to be going well too, which makes me really happy because I was worried about it. I was in that pattern of up all day and night for a while. Then I would sleep all night and be back in the same pattern the next night. It was so frustrating!

I do miss the night time though.

I don't know if any of you are a night owl by choice or not by choice, I'm just a person who doesn't remember dreaming, and wanted a place to vent for the sleeplessness every now and then, and I guess this is just a perfect place for it.

I didn't get to sleep during the day, I tried but I got no food and the alarm just went off, 4hrs later, it's night owl time! Meaning I'm wide awake. Anyhow, here are some random Owl Facts!

Quote:
Many sleep during the day, which means they are nocturnal. Others sleep at night, just like humans!
Quote:
What kind of noise does an owl make?

Tawny owls make the familiar 'too-wit too-woo' call during the night and early hours but this is actually a male and female owl calling to each other - the female makes the 'too-wit' sound and the male answers with 'too-woo'.
Lovely, innit?

We humans are wired to sleep at night du stuff during the day!
I worked shifts of days, afternoons and nights for 30 years and it is no good. It interfers with the digestive system and you suffer for it for a long time.
If you're doing it by choice you're welcome to it!

It's fifteen hundred, I remember waking up at this time of the day for work, as far as the shifts are concerned, I didn't consider it a health hazard, the so-called 'clean room' was not as clean for the workers, I didn't exactly hear rumor or anything that somebody suffered anything from this but I'd think about respiratory system issues later for retired workers or something. I was working there through an agency so there was no benefit, the worker's union had no say in my work conditions.

If I were to talk about the society and owl men, women, of today, I believe it's real, I remember the days of backpacking around a country, before 9/11, I guess it was a very first place I stayed at, 4,5 people just staring into Letterman on a CRT tv with wooden frame, the set didn't come with IR remote control technology, there was no need to change the channel though. The guys, all of us were guests, aka aliens in the country, it was just comforting, quieter, I wish I'd been able to chitchat more during those days.

So, I'm sorry that I didn't respond to the OP the last time, it was about the disapproval look or something, wasn't it? Understand the humans the way you want, and hey call us aliens if that's how you'd wanna holla at us, we might be criminals for all you know, let me tell to all the humans out there, "SWEET DREAMS!? "

Gojamadar, dude, even if you had some scientific journals/studies of some kind to back that up, I suppose they won't stand as legitimate explanations, life's are more complicated than that. And when I say choice, your opinion don't matter and that's a fact. Do I detect passive aggression? Chill out, man, if anyone wants to complain about 9-5 regular jobs, I sincerely welcome that.

I'm agreeing and disagreeing at the same time, y'know, I don't disrespect anyone's personal experiences and the opinions about it, I say this to anyone, please don't try to write a self-help book, most of y'all ain't smart evil geniuses which I'd gladly buy into if I met one, for now, I've been just picking up pages of someone's draft writings off the floor, don't take me the wrong way but that's garbage. You seem to have an attitudinal problem, Mr.

All we gotta do is to find Night Owl lifestyle gurus, I'm not talking about websites that just lists the benefit of being a night owl, but the way to help ourselves, the grand goal is not to benefit the rest of you, owls are carnivores, we loooove snacking on little rodents, we digest you good, mwahahaha. Eat healthy, we depends on ya!!

Indians taking calls, scheduling your appointments from the US are humans too!

The great China men help build the rail tracks, some might think the earth is still flat, it don't matter, we needed to understand the clock. Laying foundation on top of the land we utilize, what can I say, don't waste your dream, a day dream or whatever, interpret everything!

Night Owls Unite!!!

ETA: An infant is a human being. And some infants wake and cry at night.

Conclusion: Therefore, a statement such as "We humans are wired to sleep at night du stuff during the day!", does look false to me.

Who's to say being a night owl is not an adaptation in progress? One concern I have is the energy consumption, we all need to produce efficiently and let it help us see, so the next gen Tesla can work day or night, also as I said previous, night time is a good time for hiding out and hunt, it ain't one way or the other, any of you scared? Like of terrorist attacks? Man, someone out there are so smart.

I like your style! The same rustic philosopher as I'm! I congratulate you on your command of the English language! especially your command of the every day usage! We both had to adapt to a different lifestile in a strange land (without "souls") in your case. I have been luckier! In England everybody walks about with their soul barely conceiled!
Yes there are exceptions to the rule of daylight existence. Mostly by neccessity but sometimes by choice. One persons medicine is an others poison!
One exception is the werewolf! It is a tale of fantasy with a hint of thruth in it! When the full moon comes around the window at night the some humans change into werewolfs. It is all caused by the light (light=energy) waking the unfortunate person and compelling him to do dark deeds!
So you see; sunlight is even more powerful and most humans use daylight because it contains extra energy.

Why Night Owls Are More Intelligent Than Morning Larks -Psychology Today

Satoshi_Kanazawa @rationalwiki.org

@Gojamadar, thanks for inspiring me to write, it's half past one over here, I been doing alright. Lots of kids would be smiling when the sun comes up, homeless people get fed with special meals, and real criminal activities especially this time of the year is not something that could be condoned. I could stay up all night and think what else I can do other than throwing coals at bad people (, which I don't do), or how could we stop throwing grenade at each other, again this is in a metaphorical sense that I'm writing with. Cheers for the reply and the compliment.

So, the links taught me something, but the guy who wrote the article is a bit shady one in the field of the study area like anthropology according to the second link. I was thinking earlier about astronomers, astronauts up on the space station, and the authors of some folk tales and fables with a theme of scary monsters. We needn't not be more intelligent than anyone nor anti-social like myself to know, to be, acquainted with the owlish life. And it's just that the dark night is alluring for many, I myself too remember saying something about sleeplessness to someone I worked with, and I got this usual expected preaching from this guy, it's a bitter memory for me, I guess this is my cue for "Owl coffee myself up!".

I am human and I am wired to sleep in the day. My type was developed to naturally be awake late so we could watch over you sleep, and alert and save you if anything happened.

The human race would be extinct if it wasn't for us.

And you're welcome.

I liked Gojamadar's daylight energy theory, the scenery outside under the sun is stimulating to the brain and that enters into my soul through the eyes, I recognize the psychological benefit in some ways. Anyways, I've been reading about this sleep disorders and blind people a bit, and I think I'm ready to reveal my type.

Let's call it, zeitgebers resistant nonentrainable type, a mutation of some sorts.

Night Owls Unite!!!

I'm on the owl mode again by the way, yesterday was about 36hrs, and slept over 10hrs after that. This hasn't gotten any better for months. And I had a thought from back in the day of depressed period that lasted years when I used to sleep longer and the day was a lot shorter. The days were upside down, almost everyday, but I remember restoring the day-night cycle with my will often times, then back again to the night owl styles for some reasons.

So by comparing my current state to the old ones, it seems the mood state that my brain has changes the perception of the time. This year, at some point the mysterious internal clock even couldn't tell the time accurately within the acceptable time frame, I wasn't dissociating or nothing, but I'm not like that any longer. Although I still lose track of time a lot, when I'm on task like right now, when the brain is doing the thinking with some focus that I could muster, I usually feel at peace with the present moments, I do not have any particular feelings about the clocks in my room or anyone else's, which is all good.

My sleep so far has been like the time flies by, every day and I don't remember much but this doesn't feel like a memory issue. It's rather brain speed issue. And then comes the "What does my brain want?" type of questions, and I don't really have an answer for that. This is not fantasizing, the other day I was just trying to rest my brain by ditching the train of thoughts that was going through my head, it usually follows after the language practice that happens in my head, I don't really speak the language so it's boring and indecipherable by anyone other than myself. I just remembered at that moment, the images of ... Guinea Pigs from the Google Image search. Well, I admit this happens more than I care to admit actually, it overwhelmed me...

It's like I long forgotten how to turn my brain off, the natural pathways of entering sleep have been elusive, and I still get this moments after brushing my teeth where I'm resisting to call it a day. So, back to the original point of this post, I think the sleep for me is like the more I'm conscious about being conscious, the less sleep I've been getting from this body?

I don't know, I've been trying to get away from brain is everything kinda thinking but the way this weakened body has been acting seems to correspond with the order comes from the brain down to the vertebrae and back up again, I keep my hands and feet warm enough and that don't seem enough to fall asleep.

The night watch continues...
Thanks for this!

Hens produce eggs without roosters. That's your alarm clock though, I say keep it if you can, your sleep pattern may change some day. Besides, baby chicks are one of the cutest pets we could have.

So, I've had a short dream while I was falling into deeper state of sleep the other day, a dog peed on my face! I resisted it but the story was already written, I didn't smell it, I didn't feel the warmth nor it didn't get into my mouth, I got over it soon after I woke up. I was pretty aware during that dream, thought I could do something about the insult that was coming. How was I able to sleep soundly after this dream though?

DUCKs! They can be good pet too and can be very friendly, and supposedly they sleep with one eye opened, because of the instinct to protect oneself from predators, or as one pet duck owner puts it, she never catch them sleeping.

Night Owls Unite!!!

Some says he wrote in the morning and he was a notorious night owl. Whatever he was like as a sleeper, his work contributed to the advancement of sleep medicine, awesome stuff!

I've been a night owl since I was a kid. And no being born at night probably doesn't actually affect this. I myself was born at 10:54 AM.

Ducks are great pets! I've seen mine sleep, though. It's cute. Especially the sleeping babies.

I've had Ducks and Geese and they are little chatter boxes or mine were but they would stop quaking/honking to listen to me and then they would talk back in their own way. I like chickens too but the crowing does get to me sometimes.
