Have you changed your sleeping habits at all? Waking up earlier, going to bed later, using anything that might increase grogginess or exhaustion?
If you don't think about your dreams shortly after waking, you will lose memory of them once you start moving around. Even when you used to always remember dreaming, you probably weren't remembering every single dream. You would have woken up multiple times throughout the night, but gone back to sleep within seconds and had no recollection of doing so. Perhaps try putting a pad of paper next to your bed if you don't have one there already. As soon as you wake up, don't think about what you have to do that day or what happened the previous day. Instead, try to remain as motionless as possible while you attempt to remember and replay what you had just been dreaming. Even if all you can remember is "It took place in a forest", write that down on the pad of paper. So long as you are waking up mindful of what you had been dreaming, your dream recall will improve over time. Not only will you remember more about your dreams, you'll also remember the ones from the middle of the night that would otherwise be lost. Back a couple years ago when I was more diligent in recording my dreams it wasn't unusual to have written down 4 or 5 every night. It's a fantastic resource for creativity. Don't feel bad. I have so many and they are all so insane or just dumb. I have been half awake a lot recently. The dreams are easily remembered this way. Otherwsie when I was working I would sleep "hard" and not remember my dreams as I woke. Sometimes just a fragment. I wish I had them as I did as a child but without drugs or anything else they just went away around my mid 30's. Heck even in my 20's I guess but by my mid 30's I just told people I don't dream because to me it was as if that were the case.
I used to have dreams about flying, meeting fun people, being in awesome places. Now they are just insane. Nonsense conversations with people who in real-life would annoy the heck out of me, eating something I dislike, one time it was something about a biker gang daring me to eat glass or die, etc. Who the heck knows where they come from. I have actually read books and watched 3 different documentaries on the topics but they have been no help to me. Best wishes to you on dreaming. |

I never wake up in the middle of the night. When I was drinking I would wake up in the middle of the night just feeling terrible. Im so happy that I dont feel that hungover middle of the night feeling anymore. I def have to get on a better sleeping schedule. I go to sleep really late or may I say early in the morning most of the time. My sleep will be my next goal. I havent drank anything since november so I think my sleep is getting better, but I never remember dreaming. But as soon as I wake up my rapid thoughts take over and the songs come back in my head. Its really tiring and frustrating.

You need to find steady in your life. Do you work regular hours? If You do get some melatonin and valeria root tea. You will slowly get back to normal patterns. My friend had to take anti-psychotic drugs to sleep and I told him about this combination and he stopped the pills and has not looked back.
As far as songs in your head, try tinnitus like I have. Nothing but shrill loud pitch always there but worse when going to sleep or late at night. I will never know true silence ever again, bummer huh? |

It's happened to me, some periods of time when I couldn't remember whether I had any dreams or not, but they've come back, and are extremely vivid. Probably due to my meds and mental diseases. I take 500mg seroquel and 1mg clonazapam at night. I wake up physically rested, but emotionally and mentally, it feels like I just shut my eyes and blinked. Sucks.
Boozing is supposed to be very effective at disturbing your sleep, and shouldn't mix with benzos. Sounds like you need something other than xanax if you can't get to sleep. I'd definitely talk to the Doc and demand they fix things asap.

Stay in bed in the morning and laze around if you can afford to; this phase of light sleep before getting up is the one where most memorable dreams occur (because you will often wake directly from a dream). This is why people who don't give themselves time, but rush out of bed with their alarm clock, probably short of an hour or 2 of sleep, don't remember their dreams as much.
Also, I had my first lucid dream ever (or at least that I can remember) after taking an Advil before going to bed. They are harmless so you might as well try it once or twice. |

research shows that *all* benzos can cause short-term memory loss and i'm not one to shout stop using cause my brain for 16 long years needs it to keep myself from losing my sanity, my safety in reducing my panic disorder, and preventing seizures of which I've had two major ones in my life when i ran out early. if you want better sleep and be dreaming you should ask your p-doc about trying some low dose Seroquel. I can sleep 8 hours fine with maybe one time waking up. i dream a lot but have problems with ptsd related nightmares so my p-doc gave me some prazosin to start on to help stop my nightmares (see my post on the board about stopping prazosin)... but anyway went back on it last night and had mostly (embarrassingly) highly sexual dreams with one upsetting nightmare but the new med may take several days to weeks like starting an antidepressant. hope this helps ? |
