While there is really no need to ask what one thinks my dreams mean, I would like to know if anyone else has recurring dreams night after night about failure. Mine go like this:
I have either a new job or I'm dreaming of my past jobs as a Legal Assistant (which I did for 20 years) and I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing. I'm praying that I figure it out before anyone realizes it and fires me. I am pretending to be busy until it comes to me; or I am at the theatre on opening night, I have the lead (which I did for thirty years) and I do not know the lines, or the music or the blocking and I'm trying to learn it all before the curtain goes up; or I'm anywhere trying to do anything and my legs simply will not allow me to stand up or walk. Now, a year ago last week I broke my foot, ankle and leg, but I had this dream for several years before that. Then my legs were numb, not painful, now they hurt. I guess I'm wondering if anyone has successfully stopped having these nasty dreams and how. |

Hello Kjv2acts: Well, yes I have them, not every night (that I know of), but often. One type involves having a big argument with family members & leaving with the knowledge that I can never return... wondering what I will do because I have no family, no friends & no money. The other type involves being in college, being far behind in my work, having skipped many classes, & thinking that I might just as well quit because there's no way I can ever catch up... & not really wanting to either.
I haven't done anything to try to get rid of them. I'm don't know how one would go about that. Dreams are involuntary. I guess some people practice what's called: "lucid dreaming". I've never looked into that. My dreams just come-&-go as they will. ![]() |

I seem to recall that there was at least one book that was published perhaps 10 or 15 years ago that purported to teach readers how to lucid dream. I never read any of them.

Yes, I don't know if the techniques taught in the book(s) actually worked. I never tried it. It sounded like a great idea, but I always figured I wouldn't be able to do it even if it was real. So I never made the effort. I've had the urinating dream too. But I've never actually awakened to a wet bed, thankfully. I used to experience sleep paralysis, which is terrifying. I haven't had this in several years now, also thankfully!
