Hi all
Sorry if my issue sounds absurd , but It really is hurting me so here it is : I have a strong tendency to stay up late at night .this is harmful in many ways , dizziness in the morning , late night eating , … I've had periods of up to 4 month of regular sleep ( going to sleep at 12 waking up at 7, having a short mid-day nap) but I just tend to fall back to not getting anything done during the day , then staying up to do them , and rarely actually doing them , yet I feel like staying up . i don't know what's wrong with me I know the consequences of such a bad routine but can't get myself to fix It .anyone have similar experiences ? ? I'm not sure if I'm a night owl coz I don't function well in either day or night. ![]() |

Hello nth humanbeing: Well... personally I've always been more awake at night than during the day. If I allowed myself to do so, I would stay up until 2 or 3 a.m. or so every night. But I try not to do that. Sometimes, though, I find I can't sleep whether I want to or not. Then I do walking meditation... walking slowly throughout the house in the dark. I typically walk for at least an hour... sometimes 2. Typically by that time, when I go back to bed, I go to sleep... or go back to sleep... Under any circumstances though, I try not to sleep too late in the morning, nor do I nap. I also try to keep busy during the day. This tends to "reset" my "biological clock" so that I'm able to sleep that night.

I know that i 'm taking a very passive role in my life not changing this so i guess this might have roots in other issues of mine . |

Eating, drinking and peeing usually tells the truth about your body clock. I am a true night person. I rarely pee in the day, even if I have to stay up. I barely drink or eat during the day. I can only eat with an appetite quite late.

Honestly, I don't think "faking it" (as you put in the thread title) really fits. This sounds less like a sleep issue and more like a....life skills issue? Twice you've identified procrastination and putting things off. It sounds more like an issue of motivation more than anything. It's a matter of forcing yourself to take the initiative.
