Don't know how to deal with these sleep problems. People say have down time and read a book. I love reading but just cannot concentrate at all. Before it was constant waking now I struggle too fall asleep. Either way it is really draining, I somehow manage to find enough energy for work but otherwise even having a shower seems to take as much effort as when I did a 10 mile run.
Doctor says it's a over active mind but I just cannot clear my head enough to sleep. I feel restless, hot and sweaty even when it's cool and don't even feel tired sometimes. |

Melatonin helped me with sleep problems a little. Maybe ask your doc (pdoc or pcp) if that's an option. Other than that, completely darkening my room helped. I got blackout curtains and navy blue linens. Sleep problems make everything harder. I'm sorry you're having a hard time with it and I hope you can get some rest soon.

I'm sorry you are going through this; insomnia is painful. Is this new for you (sleeplessness)? Can your dr provide you with some helpful instruction for getting some sleep? Hope you have some respite, soon!

Yes I can relate to this. Sleep has been an issue for me for over 10 years now. I have periods where it is better, but the majority of the time I struggle to sleep. I have tried sleep meds, and they really do help, but they are not a long term fix unfortunately.
I have found that not trying to force sleep is actually helping me sleep earlier. I just try to relax and wind down, without trying to make myself sleep and often I feel sleepy enough to drift off. The minute that I think, right I have to be asleep so I got x amount of hours a night I am guaranteed not to sleep. I just have to let it come naturally.Doesn't always work, but it's better than nothing. |

I've struggled with sleep problems as well. I've found that a short walk, maybe 3-4 hours before bed helps. Also, I try to take a warm shower, maybe an hour before (though I know you've said this was hard to do). I use these hourly time frames because I've read doing these two activities too close to bed time can back fire.
And then sometimes good old fashioned chamomile tea can help. As for reading, music, t.v....when I was looking into how to sleep better, these activities were actually not to be done for one of the reasons you mentioned, that it can stimulate brain function. Maybe try some meditation? Though again, I know how tough it can be to get "motivated" when having these problems to begin with. ![]() I wish you luck.

I had sleep problems before but it was constant waking now I can't fall asleep. I can't really take anything for it without doctor saying so as I have to be careful about the other meds I take. Anti depressants have already affected them so I need to come off them and then try different ones. |

Hi I find music relaxes me but it depends what style. I can sometime sit down and do colouring the adult books and listen to classical that helps. The worst thing is if I have a bad night where I struggle to sleep I then find getting up for work really difficult in fact recently the only time I've got to work in plenty of time was when I didn't sleep at all. |

I've had sleep issues for awhile too. I generally stay up till I'm fairly tired (early morning), and then go to bed and toss and turn until I'm sleeping the best and the alarm clock goes off. I feel like I could turn it off and sleep ten hours easily at that point. I'm not working recently so maybe I should just turn the alarm off and sleep till I'm ready to get up.

I am having sleep problems. I get up in the middle of my sleep. Some uneasy dream wakes me up. I am taking ayurvedic sleep pills. Please advice me.
