Hey guys,
I've always had some problems with sleeping - often it'll take me a little while to get to sleep - but lately it's been pretty bad. About a month and a half ago I had a night where I got no sleep whatsoever for the first time ever. In the past I'd only get one or two hours, but to have none at all? That was new. I'm not sure why it happened and it took a few days for it to go back to normal again. The problem is the entirely sleepless night has occurred again - no matter what I just couldn't fall asleep last night and the strange thing is this morning I don't even feel overly tired. Again, I have no idea of the cause. I'm not feeling stressed and I'm not on medication - in fact I've been psych medicine free for two months, as my anxiety had been manageable - so I'm not sure what's been causing this. Has anyone had this happen to you? If so, how did you prevent it from happening again?

What meds were you on? I had exactly the same thing happen to me after coming off Mirtazipine. Some nights I was climbing the walls, just couldn't shut my brain off and I still have problems now.

There are some nights maybe twice a month where even if I take mirtazepine Ambien and ativan that I still don't sleep. Literally awake all night listening to the radio. It just happens. Can't tie it to anything specific. Sleep will just not come and so I have sort of learned to live with it.

I thought last night I was going to have a sleepless night. But I got a restless hour of sleep from about 4 - 5 this morning. I don't take any sort of medication and I don't drink caffeine. I can't tie my nights of few hours of sleep to anything specific either. Although some of the nights I am completely wired. Again, no medication and no caffeine. I don't know what it is. I've tried all (okay, probably most) the suggestions out there. I'm still struggling to accept and live with it though. My life is boring enough and now I've added a bunch more hours to my waking hours. Bleh.
I hope you find an answer. I know I hate not sleeping.

Just had my third sleepless night in two months. I'm starting to freak out guys. Every time I look up insomnia I find this condition called Fatal Familial Insomnia which just starts off as insomnia and gets worse and worse and you end up dying from it. I'm so scared. Its rare and hereditary but there's another form which is sporadic and just happens. They're both really rare and I know realistically my chances of having such a thing is like one in a trillion but I'm so freaked out and anxious over this whole thing. I've always had sleep issues but until last month I'd never had a completely sleepless night.
I need help with this, guys. What should I do?
