My sleep issues are getting worse and I don’t know why. I think it might be stress but it seems like I’m having an issue every night. I’ve been sleep walking, having audio and visual hallucinations and sleep eating. I literally ate an entire spaghetti dinner Thursday night.

What types of sleep disorders are there? I think I might need to get a sleep study done. But after my current bills are paid off.

Usually I know I’m not actually sick and that it’s all in my head or anxiety, but I’m positive I have some sort of sleep disorder. How do sleep studies work?

I mean, if my anxiety is causing sleep issues it’s still a sleep disorder right? I’ve never had a positive test. It’s all been negative except a few blood tests in my life. I think this test might be positive. I just don’t know how they work.

My mother has done a sleep study. It wasn't for anything like you're talking about though she just has sleep apnea. I'm sure some of it has to do with your anxiety but I'm not a doctor. But I have sleep walked since I was a kid... Never sleep ate before though, that's a new one lol. See about getting tested. If you're nervous of what it entails I find Google very helpful! Good luck!

I googled it, and it definitely falls under the parasomnia category. I‘m guessing based on my symptoms it’s REM Sleep Behavior Disorder. That gets worse over time. Which makes sense why my episodes are getting more frequent and more intense. I’m worried about the neurological disorder connection.

I’m wondering how you get a diagnosis for that and what the treatment is.

I don’t really want to be on sleeping pills. I don’t want to deal with rapid weight gain from trazedone. And I’m seriously worried I’ll die from ambien. From an accident related to my disorder.

I guess I need to talk to my doctor about it.

Please let us know what your doc says. I would be really interested,to know what your doc thinks.

Hi Boz, What you're describing is no fun. Not at all. And sleep eating is serious, nothing to be laughed off.

I'm not sure what you mean about the blood tests, but I definitely encourage you to ask your doc about a sleep study.
Thanks for this!

I have These nightmares where something really bad is happening and I'm trying to stock up on groceries. I had this dream last night. In my dream all the police were at a training so there was no police patrolling or controlling anything. So people were going crazy. Like doing really bad things. I mentioned this at work today. My coworker told me that's called a purge. As usual I didn't get back to sleep last night. It was 2:50 though. Which sucked. Those particular dreams are so disturbing though.

One of my worst sleep fears happened last night. Having a night terror while we have company over. Luckily they didn’t actually hear me screaming. But my mom heard me and she was on the couch. We were both saying “wow, this has never happened before.” Because I used to always have some small ounce of subconscious control when it came to night terrors and having people at our house.
