Hi all.

I am Jay and I am 20 years old. My other history includes OCD, depression and agoraphobia.

I had a disturbing experience yesterday. One that I cannot even figure out like I am able to through reading up on it.

I had a nightmare regarding my agoraphobia. I was trapped in a car traveling away from my home and I could not get back, which turned into a sort of lucid dream in which I was aware that I was asleep.

When I woke up, I got up and walked to the kitchen and was greeted by my father and dog
The thing is, it sounded strange and almost unreal. I proceeded to try and make coffee while figuring that it may pass, but it felt as though I was watching from above.

This lasted for at least an hour. I still felt strange for the rest of the day... (sort of blunt and like everything was in slow motion)

Has anybody else felt this? It was bizarre and even frightening.

Thanks.

I have had this happen. in me my doctors called it normal being half asleep half awake. sometimes my body fully wakes up but my mind is still in that sleep state of mind that happens as a person is generally waking up slowly or going to sleep. the way it was explained to me is when its time to go to sleep the brain makes it so that the body makes more of this one chemical in the body. this chemical makes it so that while the person is asleep they dont walk or talk, they just go through all their phases of sleep. sometimes that chemical doesnt work right..... too much or too little is produced, doenst metabolize right.

what worked for me was medication since it was physical not mental in me.

my suggestion is contact your treatment providers, they can set you up with a sleep study that can diagnose what the problem is and get you treated for it.

I totally get what you mean. It lasted for about an hour and I was literally 'floating' around and was apparently looking at things in a strange way.

I have never experienced that before. Never for such a period of time. I was really panicking.
It is not like I was still anxious from what I dreamt, because I knew I was dreaming as soon as I woke up... I guess? I was anxious because when I stood up, it felt so abnormal.

I read somewhere about chest pain? I woke up that morning with a pain in my chest and I never get such pains... headaches, stomach aches and other such things do not happen very often.

I have never had chest pains when waking up from a dream but one of my siblings did. for them it was a heart attack. my suggestion is contact your medical doctor. they can do an EKG which can diagnose what your chest pains are and if they are related to your dream or waking up.
