Hi!

I quitted on the 13th of November 2009, then had one cigarette on the 15th, but stopped completely after that. Last year I went through a lot of emotional stress, I was very lonely, but I still remained smoke-free.

Recently I got better emotionally, I have few friends who helped me a lot , also go to therapy, but a few days ago I started to smoke again. It feels that I got my life back, but on the other hand I really feel bad about it.

I do not want to smoke and I feel that I am such a failure. How can I stop it again? It was so hard to quit. How can I gather strength to do it again? What can I do???

Katika,
I just quit smoking in the spring. I know what you're going threw it is extremely difficult!
I had been a yo yo smoker for 10 years, it started just occasionally, like when I was drinking or when I was with my sister and it just progressed from there.
Every time I got stressed out, I'd bum one and then wind up buying a pack.

What ya have to remember is you can never again think you can have just 1 because you will go right back to it. I try to avoid certain people and situations that trigger me.
I still crave one once in a while, the last time I had one though, it tasted nasty, so I guess it does get better.
Thanks for this!

Hello, I used Zyban to quit, but since I am on citalopram, I can't have it. Also I used to see a tutor, but she is in another town, about 120 miles away from here, and I don't know if they do the same here, where I am now, but I will find it out.

I also did lot of thinking before and was very focused on quitting cigarette. I was very strong. Now I am a bit more relaxed that is why I thought I can have one cigarette...

Thanks.

Seaswept! I think I have to learn it the hard way. I make my life difficult.

I smoked for 16 years, not a day off. Or rather, after 5 years I had 4 weeks without, than back to it again. Last year I tried to quit from March. Some success (6 weeks), then loads of struggle: on and off smoking.

Eventually I had very good support from NHS (I live in UK) and I could quit with Zyban and with visiting a tutor every week. Unfortunately I can't do it now, since I am on antidepressant, and moved from the place where I lived.

I thought I only smoked for 2 days, I can stop, but somehow I feel very week every morning. Now I smoke as I did before. I feel no difference, but hope that I will stop again. Next time I will keep it in my mind that I can not have one ever again. Now I understand it.

Thank you for your support.
