I was a smoker for 20+ years and I quit with hypnosis. One private session ( not a group session-too distracting) with a good hypnotist and I never craved another cigarette again. Its been over 20 years now. However I still dream about smoking!

Coffee and tea are normally stimulating.
And they are often associated with smoking. For example, did you smoke and drink them together? They actually may be triggering you, then. ![]() Try drinking lots of cold water. And whenever you get a craving, change what you are doing. If you're sitting, get up and do something. If you're cleaning the bedroom, go do some dishes or scrub the toilet. If you're just hanging around relaxing, Go out for a run, o start exercising. The whole point here is, when we change what we're doing, We change what we're thinking. The cravings *will* go away once we are involved in another activity. ![]() And always remember the four D's. Peace!

The four D's??????
No coffee or tea doesn't trigger my smoking. i actually had no problem quitting what triggers my smoking is huge stress! like the anniversary of my moms death and finances that are happining right now there has been a lot of changes this year. the great thing about me is that i crave it but than i forget the craving. and i am not having the cravings anymore....they don't consume my day probably like 10 minutes out of the day. but not anymore was a passing thing. |

Racee,
The 4 D's of smoke cessation are these: 4 D's: Delay, Distract, Deep Breathe, Drink Water. ![]() Delay. Don't smoke when you feel the urge. Wait a few minutes to see if it passes. (It will!) Distract. Think of something else to take your mind off smoking. Do something else that makes it difficult to smoke (like having a shower or playing a game). Deep breathing. Take a deep breath in through your nose and hold it for a count of five. Push out your stomach at the same time. This makes the air go deeper into your lungs, where the smoke used to go. Slowly breath out through your mouth to the count of seven. Repeat this three times and feel the relaxation as your stress floats away. (If this makes you dizzy, do not do it while driving or operating equipment.) Drink water. Drink a glass of water, slowly. Hold each sip in your mouth for a few seconds. This will help replace the sensation of having a cigarette in your hand and smoke in your mouth. In short, we are making specific plans for what we will do when the urge to smoke comes. And it will come! :yuck: So, be prepared with these simple tricks. Delay, Distract, Deep Breath and Drink Water. :yup: And remember too that Those who fail to plan, Plan to fail. ![]() Keep the quit and post before you puff, because Quitters are Winners! ![]() Peace!
