Has anyone tried this and been successful? I just got on it yesterday and am really hoping it works because I can't seem to quit on my own.
Thanks

my sis took it and it helped! my docs won't let me take it due to my depressive side and chantix's side effects.
best wishes.

I took Chantix when it first came out and used it to successfully quit. It makes smoking a ciggie taste like smoking insulation The only side effect I experienced was vivid, vivid, vivid dreams--some were a bit startling and disturbing, but I stuck with it and quit the cigs. Of course, it didn't do anything about the ocassional (still) urge to return to the little devils.

Yeah, I am having REALLY vivid dreams. Scary ones. Ones that involve death. It's creepy.
I am hoping it works just as well for me. I really really want to quit.

Hang in there, Onlymedid! And yes, my dreams were pretty scary too.
Most included blood. I'd wake up shaking. BUT I wouldn't light up a cig because they tasted like cr%p!
Thanks for this!

Yeah, that's what has been happening with me, lots of blood in the dreams killing or someone being killed. It's crazy!
I'm glad that you were successful with quitting smoking. I just started them, so the doc said it will take a couple of weeks for it to really start working.
I hope it doesn't take 2 weeks! lol

iv turned them down a half dozen times so my doc stopped offering.....I can do it without it I just have to get the stress to a manageable level first....done it before can do it again.....what I have read about its record with people with a history of psychosis which may or may not involve alcohol knowing my luck i will end up actually doing the things I sat on my hands for days to avoid doing when my pms was at its worst......and I don't want to go to prison

I talked to my T about it yesterday and she was shocked that my pdoc even allowed me to go on it because she had a client last year that went on it and became suicidal and ended up in the hospital. She said that lots of people have that reaction. I am just hoping I am not one of them!!! She said if I get to feeling that way to call her and my pdoc right away.

It has worked very well for me so far. Close to 3 months tobacco free. I did have to quit the program early because it was causing me insomnia. I took the pills for about a month.

Good luck with your program onlymedid.

Well, I am almost 4 weeks into it and still haven't quit, but I have cut down. I have to make new routines for myself like going on walks during my breaks and lunches instead of going outside to smoke. I have a co-worker who just got on Chantix and I'm hoping him and I can quit together.

My mother used chantix and went from a three + pack a day habit to a non-smoker. The down side is she started smoking again because she was bored and chantix does not work a second time. Good Luck!

I quit on chantix but then when stress came off to the store I went to get ciggs then back on chantix I believe the 3rd time I got suicidal quit taking it and that stopped. Now I take it PRN because it helps my agitation from not have a smoke so I take 1 every 3rd day.
It does help and allow yourself to try it before everyone tells you they went psycho on it. It really does help and helps me.

though, Crew

Thanks everyone! I am on day 5 of not smoking, so I think the Chantix is finally working. I still have the urge to smoke, only because it's a habit and I need to do something with my hands when I go outside. I fight that urge and am winning so far!
I did take a puff of someone's smoke the other day and it tasted nasty! So, I guess that's a good thing. lol
