I quit smoking 60 days ago today cold turkey. I am proud of myself and am doing very well But I feel lonely....not lonely generally but I guess no one I know....even family...understands what it means to quit and why I am proud of mine. Sigh...I may not be saying it well but I hope someone understands!

I understand, I've quit many times and I'm trying to cut down and go cold turkey again myself soon (like in the next 2 weeks). It is a hard thing to do so congrats
Thanks for this!

Congratulations on your 60 days! That's terrific. I understand. I've been there. I quit 20 years ago and remember the up and downs. Quitting causes all kinds of changes to your body chemestry. That's why it's so hard. You are doing great. And shame on your family for not celebrating with you.

Well done, I gave up for 6 months and blamed those about me for not telling me what a good girl I was - at 51 it was a bit much to ask as they couldn't get why it is so hard for me. Well I started up and in 2 days back on a pack a day. I know you deserve a huge hug, pat on the back for every cigarette you haven't taken. I never figured out why stopping made me feel lonely but it did, the way the addictive mind works never fails to surprise me.

You can do this! The most important person who needs to praise you is YOU! I'm 15 years from that last cigarette and plan to never go back. I didn't get a lot of support from family and friends until I asked for it. Then it got better...they did the best they could.
No matter what, don't pick up the first one because then a thousand won't be enough. Good luck.

That's great you quit for good. I use the eciggs now for over 2 years, it's alot better than smoking, no ashtrays or smell. i will eventually have to stop them completely too, but i'm not ready emotionally yet. Wish me luck!!

I started ecigs too. My doc says i can officially declare myself tobacco cigarette free. I can breathe now.

But i still have the nagging feeling of still being addicted to nicotine.

Quitting all together sends me into spiraling dangerous depression. Like loosing my best friend - nicotine.

Very scary to quit cold turkey and start fiending for anything to get a high from.

Sooo i will stick with ecigs for now. Better than smoke tar and chemicals in my body.

And I smell better. Not like smoke.

Hopefully someday I will break the nicotine habit I hope.

Nicotine is even more addictive than cocaine. Formidable foe but definitely doable. It took some real introspection for me to be nicotine free and no longer chained to nicotine delivery devices. But I did it 15 years ago and am proud that I did. You can do it too! Maybe not today or tomorrow but you can when you're ready. I hope you do.
