I'm super ultra pissy today. Day one is rough. I just wrote out a list of all of the reasons I don't want to smoke cuz I'm having cravings, and as I'm writing I'm thinking "These aren't even good reasons. I don't even care about my skin, or my teeth, and I'm not ready to fully confront my emotions!!! I want a cigarette!!!"

I got a job today, too, so I'm extra stressed. I start tomorrow doing housekeeping at a hotel. I've never had this type of job before. I want a cigarette.

I've never been a smoker so I don't know how you feel but saw your post. I want to offer you encouragement on your decision to quit. Are you getting any help, like a nicotine patch etc or a support line? Best of luck.

Thanks Lynn. I am getting extra help. I started a smoking cleanse, which combines natural vitamins that help cleanse the toxins out faster with natural herbs that help get rid of anxiety and mood swings. I take 5 vitamins at different times of the day and also have tablets that I chew to curb cravings. I am trying to get into cognitive behavioral therapy to deal with my issues in a healthy way, but so far no luck.

Mornings are pretty easy, after a couple cups of coffee and an orange I feel pretty good. It's night time that's a struggle. I end up nervous, pacing, twitching, crying, etc.

Off topic, but, I dunno if I've ever told ya, I had an australian shepherd/cattle dog mix. Best dog I ever had.

My husband tried the smokeless cigarette and it helped but ended up breaking...then he ended up smoking again. There's the actual nicotine addiction and then the addiction of having something in your hand and mouth. Is your husband also quitting - if not it will be challenging if he's smoking around you.

The easiest quitting I ever heard was my older brother 20 yrs ago. He asked his 5 yr old son at the time ....."what do you want for your birthday" and he said "I want you to quit smoking Daddy". So he quit cold turkey. I wish you success LylaJean

Yes those dogs are known to be one of the smartest dogs - that's why they're working dogs. My Bella is a mix of Miniature Shetland and Cavalier King Charles and she's very smart - she understands a great deal of what we say...its amazing.

My husband isn't ready to completely quit, but he's cutting back to only when he takes the dog outside to go to the bathroom. Last night I was wanting a cigarette and he actually put his foot down and told me I need to stick with this, so that's helpful. There's a lot of things that are going to change due to this, but they're positive changes!!! I hope that watching me quit will be a good example for him in the future, once he's ready to give it up.

Can you try to write down all the reasons you do want to smoke? Like what it does for you? And then try to remind yourself of how those things aren't true? I've found that very helpful

I don't know if this will help but hopefully it can give you something to work with.

I gave up about 9 months ago and the amount of money I now have to spend on so much cooler things like games and books is astounding.

You really don't know how much money you've been wasting until you give up lol

Off topic: I have a cattle dog too. She's my baby. Mad as a hatter though.
