I tried to quit smoking for over 20 years using nicotine cessation products.
Gum- hurt my teeth Lozenges- turned to paste in mouth Patches- Slid off in the summer Nvr tried the clinical ways because they were expensive. I started using e-cigs, but they had a set nicotine lvl. I went and bought a tank system where I can custom tailor my own e-juice. You pick a flavor and then they ask about the nicotine percentage. The highest I can buy was 16%. Every few weeks I lowered the %. When I hit 0%, the e-juice was gross, so I quit it all together. All the flavor is in the nicotine. After 25 years, it's been a year since I smoked. This worked for me and I hope it works for you. ![]() |

I, too, have thought about the vaping...Your experience inspires me...but if you don't mind...how much did the initial cost, cost? I know it will probably be comparable to purchasing cigs...but someone said a "good vaping system" can be as expensive as $50. Is this true? I don't want a piece of junk... Thank you for your help and congratss! ![]() |

Jeanne-
I went with a tank system. This is how I got it figured, the battery vaporizer unit was $125.00. The tank was $25.00. The battery and charger was $50.00. The e-juice was 9.00 a small bottle that lasted a week. All in all, compared to cigarettes that I would of spent money on, I made my money back and then some. Since it was for a good cause and healthier than smoking, that made the initial cost justifiable. Mind you, all this was brand new equipment. I've dumped tons of money in gum, patches, and lozenges and still smoked on them, so this was nothing. I see it as this was the cost of quitting smoking. I hope that helps, and that the costs didn't scare you off. Of course the items I bought aren't exactly lower tier. They are definitely not top tier either- the costs can get crazy high (not like I didn't think about it! Lol). Good luck! ![]() |

Don't mean to Necro a thread but just wanted to get some info to people out there about Vaping.
I've been vaping for about a year now and I feel so much better than when I was smoking, had chest pains, overweight, coughing fits. I started using Halo E-cigs for about 50 bucks you'll get a great starter kit and some starting e-juice. IMO the juice was pretty gross but interesting to sample. Once you get settled and start looking at different juices some may say they taste like mint chocolate chip but you'll find they are exactly all that, so I would recommend small amounts before making a big purchase to find a flavor you enjoy. I moved on to other e-cig brands such as Vaporfi's ego style ecig and Innokin MVP2, they all offer uniqueness such as style, type, and customization. There's been a lot of smear campaigning against the use of ecigs lately, with the FCC wanting to regulate, and the scare tactic of potentially dangerous by-products from vaping. I will agree that vaping is not healthy but it is a healthier alternative to smoking. So don't pick up vaping just cause. The transition to vaping from smoking was easy since I was still getting nicotine and the act of smoking, however, it did take a little getting used to how often to vape. I found myself vaping way more throughout the day and was getting frequent headaches and dizzy spells from too much nicotine. Now the juices come in a various strengths and levels. For example 50/50 24mg is a 50/50 mix of PG and VG (both are generally recognized as safe by FDA) and the target nicotine strength is 24mg. That means every puff your going to be taking in a lot of nicotine. As a three pack a week smoker I was comfortable around 60/40 or 50/50 10-14 mg. 18 mg was giving me the headaches. Again, sorry for necro-ing this thread and if you have any questions I'd be happy to try to answer them. |

i've been vaping 24 for over 2 years now. i do get dizzy sometimes because i crave the nicotine so bad i don't realize when i'm vaping too much until i do get dizzy, i have to say i really enjoy it at one point in my life i was smoking almost 4 packs a day!!! now i'm down to the vaping the 24. i don't see myself stopping it at least for now, i think my meds make me crave the nicotine and caffiene as i drink coffee too, i don't drink alcohol so that's one good thing too.

I Vape on 16 now. I stopped smoking 2 years, 3 months ago. I have only recently dropped down from 24. It was really easy for me. I still get my nicotine kick, but don't actually smoke. I've tried some of the flavours but don't like any of them I'm sticking with my Virginia.

I haven't seen a change in my coffee intake. Love coffee as much as vaping.

I've been vaping for 5 years, but I never used it as a smoking cessation device. I smoked cigarettes (1 pack per day) for 25 years before I switched to vaping. I believe I know a lot about vaping, so I would be remiss if I didn't mention that the jury is still out regarding the safety of vaping. The only negative (and it's a big negative) is the release of formaldehyde in high-voltage vaping (5+volts). Ejuice is comprised of propylene glycol and/or glycerol, and when heated at 5+ volts, a lot of formaldehyde is released. High-voltage vaping, coupled with sub-ohm atomizers is trending (everyone is chasing clouds). I realize the risk, but I chose to chase clouds anyway.

I just bought vaping supplies but I don't know how to use them. The ecig is in one package, the juice is in other little bottles, and I have two other things. Not sure how to put it all together?

You need to back to the store and have them show you. It's hard to say here. You really need to see it, there are so many dos and donts. Most vaping stores make sure you know what you are doing before you walk out the door. Good luck and have fun.

I am housebound so I ordered my supplies online. They do have videos on the website, guess I'll just have to watch them a couple of times. Thanks.

Right on. It's complicated. You have the tank system, the cart system, vaporizers, different kinds of tanks, blah blah blah. Cotton and voltage settings and amperage and fluid thickness and curing and juice types, batteries, etc.

Thank you JoBo! Maybe tomorrow. I filled the tank but they didn't give me a wall charger for my vaping thing? Also, not sure about how the extra metal parts should be attached. Lots of hugs! I'm freaked out over my COPD and the COPD thread here. It's true, if I catch a cold or flu I'm probably going to die from it.
