I am using the inhalor. I crave a cig anyway. guess I will for a long time. I take your attempt as support and hope you accept mine. I know we can do it.

I'm actually on the patch to get off of nicotine GUM. How crazy is that?

I've been using the patch for 2 or 3 weeks and my gum cravings seem to be gone. The first couple of days were the worst, and then it subsided a lot. Now when they come I just try to ride the wave and wait for them to pass.

Good luck to both of you!

Im on day 71 with no cigs. Its a LOT better now than those first couple weeks. I just kept trying to stall myself those first weeks. I just didnt want this particular crave to be the one that beat me. Now im feeling confident that i can do this. For me forums help me out a lot so i found a quit smoking forum that worked well for me. I also found it helped a lot with my emotions as i have something i can feel i accomplished daily, even if its i didnt smoke today. Good luck!

I quit 8 years ago after smoking for 30 years. SMOKING CIGS

My mother getting lung cancer and her lung removed was a great motivator.

I will say I still miss it. SMOKING CIGS

Hang in there everyone! You can do it! SMOKING CIGS

I miss it sometimes too but the benefits so far seem to be worth it. I like not coughing so much and being able to breath so much easier. Im also noticing i can smell stuff(not always good!! hehe but usually is)now.

Ohh i forgot one of the other things that helped me was hard candy. That helped me a lot just to distract me enough until the crave went away. Ive heard others talk about cutting straws down to a comparable size of a cig and that seemed to help. The first three days was very hard and then it very slowly got better from there for me.

What you are doing bluevixen is one of the hardest challenges a person can face. Nicotene is the most addictive publicly accessed drug there is. The addictiion is multi phased,,both physical and emotional..habitual...

I was addicted to them too...among other things and it was the most difficult to let go of...

But...

In my experience everything becomes easier with a decision. I mean a real decision. Not a pretend one....

If you "decide" you are a non smoker..period,,end of tune..no questions asked...no excuse will be enough....

Then...

It will be easier...not easy,,but easier...

Take all the help you can get and/or find...gum,,lozenges,,,patches,,group support and see if you can find someone to quit with you...that is extremely helpfull...

But the decision is the catalyst to change...

Again,,,only an opinion from one who waved a white flag often,,,to simply buy time...and another chance....

The best of luck to you and congrats to all who kicked the habit...you will live a better life...

Lenny

The worst is behind you...now what remains is the battles of desire...which last for about 20 seconds...then they fade...

I am with you and behind you. One way to trick the addict beast is to quit for 200 years. It works. The beast will be satisfied. It has no conception of time. I am in my first century of abstinence. Peace SMOKING CIGS

I started smoking when I was in the 7th grade and was smoking a pack a day by the 8th grade (I am 34 now). I have tried many many times to quit. I tried cold turkey, didn't work. I tried the patches when they first came out and you had to have a prescription for them, they didn't work. I tried Zyban, that worked for about 1 month and then I was back to smoking again. April 2007 I got a 30 day subscrtion for Chantix. I had a relapse in May 2007 that lasted 1 week. Ever since then I have been smoke free. It was the best thing I have ever tried. It is still very hard and I still think about smoking. It still smells soooo good but I know 1 cigs would do me in and I have gone way to long to throw that all away. I quit not only for myself but for my son also. I knew that by me smoking, that it was that much more likely that he would start smoking also. I didn't want that to happen. As the saying goes, Never Quit Quiting!

YAY BLUEVIXEN!!!! YOU ARE MY HERO!

As of August 12, 2008 I will be a non-smoker.

Of course with the help of the patch.

And hard candy.

And gum.

And well, the Ad Agency I work for Just got a contract to do ads for the Florida Anti-Tobacco campaign so, I suppose I have one HECK of a support group. Our Co-President lost BOTH of his parents to smoking.

I am ready to be free of the smoky hair, the yellow teeth, and the dry skin! Look forward to it with cheers!

I am SO VERY VERY proud of you! Keep on TRUCKIN!
