the doc that i work for told a woman patient that he couldn't stand to look at her hair!!! then he went to a discoutn store and bought her a hat that he made the nurse give her. notice he didn't give it to her....i asked the lady how she felt about the hat and she said she hated it. then i asked a tech if she could braid her hair this weekend and that's in the works.......this lady worries about her appearance because she's had a stroke and one arm is smaller than the other and is bent up by her breast. we really aren't allowed to give the patients gifts and i can't give her a hug here........ideas?????and you don't have to tell me.....i work for an ***...he called me and the nurse over on friday and said that the way you tell crazy people from others in Oklahoma is by their hair and their clothes. I folded my arms across my chest and said, "i did not know that" and he didn't even catch my mild sarcasm..i heard the nurse snort and then i walked off.......keeping your self esteem intact at that place is a daily struggle....

Pat, does this lady "live" there? Isn't there someone who could braid her hair or something... I mean as a daily thing.

Ask your boss when it was fair to judge a book by it's cover. Has he taken a look at the Pope lately? I can barely stand to look at his latest pictures, I'm not Catholic so I didn't know about him much until in the last couple of days. What a wonderful man!! You can't help but love him!

What an ***. That's so rude! You know what I'd tell that ungrateful git, that him saying that kind of stuff is bound to get him in trouble if someone went to the right people. He has no place to comment on others appearances, I'd give him a taste of his own medicene.

That's so sad... The poor lady... it's not her fault and he's being such a brute. TT_TT

So you can insult a patient but not comfort them? O_O Grrrrr. If I was within arms length of him I'd make his pants ride up even further.

i am laughing so hard that i almost slid out of my chair! how can i help this patient?i can see an army of mental patients how can i help this patient? descending upon the dialysis clinic with weapons of mass destruction.....oh yes, where DID how can i help this patient? those go?

anyway, a technician is going to braid her hair how can i help this patient? this weekend. she's black and it will stay braided for a long time.
the doc doesn't catch jokes, mild sarcasm, raised eyebrows, how can i help this patient? etc...mort, when i leave there.......he's going to catch hell from the state inspection board.....i'm making a list and checking it twice..and believe you me, i'm outta there the minute i get another job or get in school. i worked in an emergency room before i worked for him and i know what's clean and what's not and what's legal and what's not.......the patient and a technician both have lawsuits, if they so desire. he shoved a tech the other day.....he's from Nigeria and consistently treats all the women like dirt. but this tough broad is serious about turning him in...i do have a list. pat

how can i help this patient?mort, you don't know the half of it.....you weren't here when a patient died due to the incompetence of the nurse and the fact that the oxygen tank was empty!!we've lost three patients and two could have been prevented. one had a blood clot in his brain. he told me that he was really sick when i checked him in. i reported it and he was hooked up, without any attention from the nurse. about 45 minutes later, he had a seizure....at times i think that i should just walk out BUT i know that there are patients there that depend upon me for various aids...emotionally and physical..the nurse is about three rungs above the doctor as far as being compassionate..so, i know that i supply compassion and humor to the clinic. but, when the right opportunity comes along, i'm gone...with my list!

Definitely! I know mum is always coming home peeved off because of what people have been doing at her clinic. They don't deal with any patients that are in positions of life and death though, thank G-d. Some of them are such gits.

It makes ya so sad to see and hear, I can't imagion how much worse it would be to have to be there. O_O;;; I know when you get to leave, you'll be doing such good to expose the bad there, that will help the patients the most. And wherever you go, you'll find new ones to help too. *hug* Don't let it get you too far down, kay? TT_TT

i'm actually pretty cheery...because of all the posting back and forth with everyone here. i laughed so hard at the image of everyone of you descending upon the clinic and "attacking" my boss! i'm sure that he's extremely biased about folks like us.....another instance of not letting anyone at your work place know your DX........yesterday was great and Mort, you were a big part of it. i laughed so much..watched basketball and stayed off my sore knee.........have a great day...think of me...i'm going to try to wear the proper shoes....

*____* Awww... *hug* You're the bestest ever. You make me feel so welcome at the board. If I was within arms length I'd come with you to work and threaten to bite him everytime he said something rude. :3 Like your guard doggie!!!

>_> Hit him with the bad shoes that hurt you!!! Muhahaha. <_< *hug* ^__^

You have a good day too. I'll be hoping your day is good. ^^

Your boss sounds like he needs to be reported. Killing patients -- that's rather worse than being a jerk. I can be jerk at times -- but I do not kill people! I'm glad you found someone to braid this poor woman's hair for her.
