Yesterday, I went to the bank to get some $ and was told I was overdrawn.

I had made an online payment, and it had been drawn on the wrong checking account. Now, I can't prove that the credit card company screwed up, but I thought I had been careful to get it right. I did a lot of running around to get the cash to the bank to cover it, and they waives the overdraft fee when I requested it, but it gave me a huge headache.

Today, I went to do a phone payment to my mortgage and discovered the last check I mailed never got there! Now I know this is [b]not my fault[/i] because I mailed another bill at the same time, and that cleared just fine!

So now I have to beg the mortgage company to waive the late charge and not make a mark against my credit rating, and I have to stew until Monday to do that.

To top it all off, I discovered that my brother had paid for 6 months use of XM satellite radio, but the card wasn't visible in the box, and I figured I couldn't afford it, so I was going to send it back and let months pass, and I feel like a jerk because I said I was sending the gift back to his daughter, my neice, because I couldn't afford the subscription. They must think I'm really a jerk. To top it all off, my bro and I had a huge fight in 2003 and do not keep in touch, so this was a kind of peace offering from him that he may be thinking I threw back in his face.

I wish I had an income I could count on; I would just have a lot of things paid automatically so that this doesn't happen.

(((((((((((((( Wants ))))))))))))

None of these situations are your fault! You are a dear, good person. Please don't be hard on yourself for this.

Hugs,

Jan

Bank mixups and confusions happen; they're not a reflection on you or your character, just a royal pain in the!

I had a bank that did not bounce a check but said it did and charged me late fees and then the computer got stuck and kept routinely charging me more and more fees every couple days because by about the second or third charge, I was overdrawn so it was changing me more in the red each time :-) I called on the phone and talked to a VP and then got a letter addressing me as "Mr." whole name, and my name is so obviously female it isn't funny :-) I called again and said how about we just forget the whole thing and call it even? (the check hadn't bounced, which was good, but I only had something like $17 left in the account when they started being ridiculous so I said "just take it and close my account!").

So glad that this is just a symptom of our "service " (hahaha) economy.

Of course, the deal with my bro is my fault for not unpacking the box when I first got it, but oh, well.

It was nice to find your supportive messages here. I am okay now, I just had to calm down for 24 hours.

Thank you so much Pat, NotTheMama, January, and Perna.

it would take days to relate to you the mistakes and mixups my bank has made.......i'll tell you one though....

when you put your money in the bank, it doesn't hit the books til midnight because they send it to San Antonio??? so, i went to the ATM, not having been told that, and saw my balance wasn't correct. i called them and this woman told me that my money was "static"...so i said, "essentially, that means you don't know where it's at?" and she replied in the affirmative.........two days later,(cause it still hadn't shown up in my account) i'm on the phone to the VP and he apologized and sent me a gift certificate to a local cafe.........

one night i was broke and hungry and decided to go eat at this cafe. it was closed......as in CLOSED........i laughed so hard that i almost choked......sitting in front of that place with a useless gift certificate from a useless bank.........
