I'm not sure if this will help, but I feel like by posting, you're trying to prompt a discussion, if not an outright solution. May I ask why you refuse?
I ask because I have a knee-jerk self-hatred sometimes, and I'm afraid that if I say I like myself, then people will think I'm narcissistic or self-centered. I also have to fight the feeling that I don't have anything to like about myself, which is untrue. Even that can be hard to admit, though. |

That makes things worse for me, like when people tell me something positive it makes me feel I have guilt tripped them into saying something or tricked everyone in some way.
