Pretty much what the title says. Does anyone have any recommendations for books about dealing with life-long very poor self-esteem?
There's an awful lot of fluff out there on this topic, so I could use some suggestions and pointers towards the better material. (Yes, I have seen several therapists over the years and am seeing one now. I'm looking to be more informed about actual therapeutic methods and hopefully get additional ideas.) |

Hey Cepheid.
![]() I have a book called "The Self Esteem Workbook" by Glenn R. Schiraldi, PhD. I was working out of it for a while. It's a little overwhelming, especially if you're looking for a quick fix. It's meant to be worked on over time. But I do recommend this book, because it helped me, and I learned some things, too. The other book I love and would suggest is Self Compassion by Kristin Neff, PhD. You cannot go wrong with this book. Its very good. ![]() |

Ok cool. I say, if you get the chance, check out both books. I learned a lot from the workbook. The self compassion book, is more feel good. But isn't that what life should be about? It helps too. She has exercises in her book too, that you can do, or not.
