your running commentary about yourself? Are you replaying all the old tapes given to you when you were growing up? Then it's time to ignore them and give yourself exactly the oposite message.
"I AM worthy" "I AM good" "I AM intelligent" "I have the same rights as anyone else does" "I have the right to believe in ME" "I CAN change my wrong thinking" "I AM entitled to change old attitudes" "In all the world, there is no one else exactly like me!" "I AM a unique, wonderful creation!" May I refer you to my newly posted CBT wrongful thinking post?

I'm not stupid.
Someone used to say this a lot to me when I was growing up. Is this what you mean?

People said "You're stupid"? wow... Counter it by saying "I AM intelligent." Leave out words like "no" and "not". The subconscious doesn't take them in as well as straight possitive statements. Also, "I AM" is an active statement.

My father didn't outright say "You're stupid", but he would constantly say to me " What are you stupid???"
lol I remember saying to my mom when I was a jr. in high school after "applying myself" during exam time. I did very well and was shocked not to receive anything below a 90 in any subject. I said "wow I'm not stupid"...lol I can be smart ... can and am rhyme...lol maybe I shoulda started with something else. Lately my mind is so confused cuz of the headaches I can't spell simple words that I know I can. ![]() sry don't mean to waste time w/this. I'll do better with it next time ![]()

As long as you're making an effort, which you are, it's not a waste of time.

It helps, for sure, but if you don't quite believe them, keep repeating them to yourself until you DO believe it!
