I wrote a 4 page poem and sent it to all my sisters and the IT (mother)
who caused all the physical, mental emotional abuse.
(The other abuse happen to but not by her, but she didn't stop it)

One of my favorite paragraphs is this"

"How can you block these memories
How can you expect me to
It's not like we were there alone
When we were there with you"

I find the best way to stop the memories is that you have to face them. Take care.

Writing things like this is therapic.
Dealing with things face on is the only way 'I' do things.
To have written my life in 4 pages and rhyme at the same time
is ----
Face on, from the deepest of emotions, logic and heart

AND confrontation with the ......

I've done my work, I've walked through the past, I accepted this was never my fault....

It wasn't until I was away from there and RAN to therapy for years is not dening it.

Surely I would not HOLD the memories. The memories are a life time of healing.

At this time I have NOTHING to do with this person.
Can not forgive as the person continues to believe in the same manner.
(Of her 4 daughters we have all cut and burned the abilicord)
She took our childhood - she shall NOT continue to take the rest of our lifes.
It will take the rest of our lifes to heal.

Remove myself
Work on me
THIS is what I do and continue too!
Thanks for this!

Starlite
You are so brave
You are so creative
I am here to support you

and if that makes you feel better feel free.
But keep it to yourself please, don't tell me.
And let's all respect each other's feelings.
With kindness, support and "sweet dreamings."

I see stopping the memories as stopping the body memeories jmo
you dont actually stop them - you stop the way they affect you - you face them and then they lose their power over you - it is sooo hard - they threaten to engulf and overpower you at every turn

you learn form your past - take what you can from it and try to let go the rest .....

I agree writing these things is theraputic... it helps get stuff out into the open... bad things tend to wither and ide in the light...

wishing you peace and healing starlight

I don't think you can simply stop memories. You have to replace them with something healthier. Find something enjoyable that you can use to distract yourself when the feelings hit. I sometimes paint with acrylics or listen to music or pet one of my animals.

Hi yoda,

Distraction works on taking the memories away from you at that time but in my own personal experience they just come back ......

jmo but sooner or later you face them and they lost their power over you..... it has taken me a long time..... and i couldnt have done it without the support of my T and my a very special close friend - both of whom have been sooooo patient wiht me ( i think i gave them lots of grey hairs lol)

In the end instead of fighting and pushing the memories away - distracting myself and them coming back later - i let them come - reminded myself that this was not happening now - that i survived it then and i can survive it now.... it was hard.... very hard..... but i have got through them i think... I hope... maybe there are more to come - i dont know i hope not - i hope they have stopped coming and that this is it..

i wish you well

that would have been hard

it was brave

I hope it was healing for you

i hope it was healing to those who read and could relate to it

there is no shouldnt in there at all

you are a survivor - you are gettin on wiht your healing journey and that makes you a for posting - I really appreciate both this thread the discussion it prompted which made me think about my own journey as well and you!
