Prison is only one way of punishment for a person. You have to have faith as people can also suffer their own prisons. Freedom is not always freedom and if some one has not changed they will again suffer.

The only thing you can do is make sure you are not accessable to those that have caused you harm. None of us can change the actions or trespasses of others in our past. But, we can become stronger and in knowing what that person truely is, learn to make sure we are no longer available to further abuse.

It is very hard to overcome the past and moments that each of us has been abused in some way. But the most important thing to understand is that you do have more knowledge now and you can be stronger. It is often hard when you are a good person and have had your life disrupted by someone who is impaired in some way that causes them to harm or lash out at others. Keep in mind that someone who commits bad acts is disabled mentally in some way. That is not your fault, you were in thier path and now you know better. But, you did survive it, and it was very tough on you. But you ARE a survivor, focus on that ability and that you can be a strong person in spite of the actions of others.

Ya know what's really sad? If you or I (I have, so I can say this) sat down in a Law Library, and looked up all the statutes, all the forms, all the rigamarole; and translated it into English; we could probably do a better job than the ADA-or DA did.

Strange thing about Legalese is that it's so objective...the lawyers, for the most part; get all caught up in that objectivity, and semantics that they forget it's about
real live people.

I was told that when I went pro se, and perfected my Brief for the Appellate Division;
I'd have won...unfortunately, I hadn't the money to publish it. My time ran out.

An Appellate Justice told me that---years later. He was amazed that a mere mortal could present such a good argument; with Exhibits "A"--"Z", and an addendum to back me up.

I make no sense of our "Justice" System.

Why is right. Why?? It's SO unfair! If the abusers spent the maximum allowable sentence in prison for their crimes, it still isn't even close to the sentence that we get to suffer for the rest of our lives!!

But, hey, the prisons are are all over-loaded and can't afford to spend more money providing and watching the prisoners. So, if they behave in prison, they can get out early. And won't be such a drag on the economy ~ and we all know how important the economy is to politicians!

Such a sad, sad reality in current American society.

Very gentle hugs to you avoice. Do be sure to hold up that wall to protect yourself emotionally. Just because he's out does NOT mean that he can walk right back into your life again. You do have some control on that aspect.
