Hi everyone,
As survivors, most of us probably have negative feelings and thoughts about ourselves. Several times, I have been told that every day I should write 3 things that bring me joy. I've started this but I honestly have never continued it for more than a day or two because it has always seemed so difficult. Well, it has been suggested to me again, only this time I was told that I should write three things that bring me joy, that I'm thankful for, or three positive affirmations. To keep me motivated, I thought I could start a thread here and all of you could join me.
Visit this thread daily and list your three joys, three things you're thankful for, or three positive affirmations.

This is a good idea... I struggle with this.

But here goes:

1. My children, even when they're not here and I miss them. They're awesome.
2. I am friendly
3. Can't think of a third one right now.

1. It's a beautiful day out side.
2. I love being in nature.
3. My hawthorn tree which is now in bloom.

I'm swinging wildly between whoopin that I am actually doing work and feeling terrible that I am three weeks behind a chapter deadline. So here goes.

What I am grateful for:

1. I know a lot about my PhD subject and it is paying the bills
2. I have a friend who understands and I'm going to see her tonight and celebrate her birthday with her.
3. My girls are coming back home tomorrow.

Soooo these have all been hard for me, but now I've reached the point where I'm just pulling crap out so they might sound stupid.

1. I am a good driver.
2. I am good with children.
3. I am good at playing sports.

Ok I'm pulling it out of my backside here.

2. Today I sorted out childcare for the summer.
3. I also ordered some nice new clothes for myself including a bangle that I would never normally buy because it is beyond basic requirements.

bigjellybelly...you are worth pretty new clothes and a pretty bangle. You are worth more than basic requirements just because you are you.

1. I tell it as it is - no sugarcoating (this gets me in trouble a lot but they say it is supposed to be a good thing).
2. I enjoy writing.
3. I take my certified therapy dog to local hospitals and nursing homes for patient visits.

I've also run out of things and am just pulling it out of my back end. I don't even know if I'm doing it right anymore and I started the thread! LOL. Oh well.

Thanks for participating everyone! You are all doing a great job! I like seeing the posts where you couldn't come up with all three but then you post a second post to show you didn't give up and you have three things posted. Great job!

I think just trying to think of positive things is inherently helpful, so whether we are doing it right or not, it is helpful to me. By the way that is awesome about your dog. And never stop telling it straight. Too many people in this world operate in a constant cloud of ********, which I cannot stand.
Thanks for this!

Because of where I am mentally right now, I am having a very hard time to see the good, the positive. I didn't add to this list yesterday. This morning, I'm going to add some things that people said to me yesterday, even though right now, I am having a hard time believing any of them.
1. I am honest.
2. I am caring.
3. I am empathic.
4. I am strong.
5. I have a great way of talking with people.
6. I give good advice.

Three for today and three for yesterday. :-/

Only one, but a strong one:

I have a future which I'm free to create for myself. And once I stop thinking that my past will always define my future and see the opportunity I'm given... I'm quite happy after all. :-)
