intellectually, I know it wasn't my fault. I know I was not the responsible party... but emotionally? that's a whole other matter.
why does shame have to be so pervasive wiht this stuff?

(((ThisWayOut)))

It's a sad reality that this is how we feel when we are still processing everything.

I just wanted to acknowledge that you are not alone.

Hang in there.

I experience it too. It is hard to get out of your system, there seems to be more as you dig deeper. I guess keep telling yourself it wasn't your fault and standing by the truth.

I know how you feel, the shame almost seems omnipotent at times. just remember that the only person who should be embarrassed is your abuser. you were completely innocent and you were treated badly, and there is no shame about speaking out

Hi ThisWayOut, I know that you can hear that it wasn't your fault hundreds.......of times but it isn't always going to really resonate with that part of you that keeps on telling you otherwise
Still.........I am going to add to all those times and say..........it wasn't your fault!!!!
Perhaps keep trying to remember what you'd say to someone else in your position, how you'd feel towards them........because I'm sure you wouldn't blame them would you??!!! And maybe feel compassion towards them???
Now that compassion, you deserve!!!!
And you know, none of us look on you as if you should be ashamed.........as said it should be the abuser who should be ashamed not you.

I get what your saying about logically and emotionally. I understand things logically but emotionally I struggle. I'm lucky that I have never been abused. I hope your able to overcome this.
