Once, we were out eating with family and my Mom went to reach for the salt, and I reacted as though she was going to hit me.
It was embarrassing for us both.
Hands......I Hear ya.

Take care.

I HATE hands too. A T once suggested EMDR to me, and I thought of the original method which used the T's hand moving back and forth. I had to stiffle a scream! Are you kidding? ME stare at man hands?? I don't think so!

Although I know that EMDR uses difference methods now (vibrating gizmos, headphones, etc.) I still can't get past that first reaction.

soo... I am not alone....

I know for many years following my divorse too... doctors would get "upset"... really would... because everytime ... they would "go" for my neck area.. I would automatically move back... from times from ex choking me... not like you even think about it... just happens...

thanks for sharing...

In sessions, I'd find myself staring at his hands....keeping an eye on them. If they moved, I'd panic. The poor guy admitted to feeling self-conscious about moving them. For a while he tried not to move them, and then at some point we talked about it again, and he said he HAS to move them and I needed to work on it from my end. I did. It was hard. On bad days I still followed them with my eyes, but generally I was OK.

Hands--I hear you. I too remember them and it is not good. I draw, but never hands on people. Hands always hurt and there was no one to reach too--no one safe. Never feet because there was no way to get away. Never a mouth because the scream would never come and was not allowed. I understand dear. I really do.
