Body memories... do you have them? Do they sometimes "sneak" up on you when you aren't looking? For me.. I have them... they are graphic.. not in words... like a "male body part" that nudges up against my arm...is a feeling.. not a "word thought"...

I recently.. thru my T urging started a new venture... a massage T.. that works with sexual abuse surviors.. the massage is different.. it is talk.. and massage.. as he massages say a foot.. he will ask what is it you are feeling.. and also if you are "staying" in your body. connected..

This is interesting work... and it is difficult work.. and it does do alot of good...

please do your homework on any masseuse trained to work w/ sexual abuse survivors as their approaches vary.

much good has come through massage/body work w/ highly trained individuals in our situation but only after a couple very negative experiences w/ masseuses not experienced enough to understand the magnitude of what is possible to come out during a session.

hope you find relief where you need it.

therapist had recommendation but we sought elsewhere after investigating we felt the level of experience lacking from the recommended body-workers.

often fellow survivors IRL can recommend their person. word of mouth is the way we've found most of our successful body-workers.

I have body memories. Sometimes pain, sometimes just a memory of a fleeting touch, but it happens frequently, the remembering. It's very difficult to deal with. I am glad you are getting help for it. Sorry it's so difficult though.

**trigger alert**

Well your not alone here either. I to have body memories exactly as you described....they are graphic. Mine will double me over in severe pain, render my arms motionless or just being touched. I haven't been brave enough to try massage T's as of yet. They are the most disturbing of all my flashbacks. It's also hard to recover quickly from them, it's like the injuries have to heal all over again.

Thanks to those who mentioned being cautious when checking out massage T's. I appreciate the advice.
