Warning...below contains content about a man joking about abuse.....beware....trigger.....

trigger

trigger

trigger

I just randomly flipped to the Blue Collar Comedy Next Generation to see if it would make me laugh...what they were talking about...i like the first one better....anyway....the guy was in the middle of talking about his girlfriend who has a black eye...he continued to make a joke about how his guitar "accidently" hit her in the face....then he proceeded to laugh and joke and say that he would have her go in first and then come barging in ...for laughs...and make a balled fist saying Hurry up (bleep bleep bleep) before you get more.....

What is funny about that??? And whats even more sick is that people were laughing too.....It is sad how people dont percieve the realness of abuse....the effects.....and how damaging it is......some things you can joke about...i have humor....but this is ridiculous..."hitting below the belt" there is a difference between making a joke about your family ....and making a joke about abuse.....not cool...im telling you what...im steamed from that one...

I would be steamed too.

Some people might have been laughing just because they are in the atmosphere of comedy and not even paying that much attention to what was actually being said-- it's sad how some just react without thinking.

I agree with you-- it doesn't sound funny at all. Blue Collar Comedy....not being funny trigger

Well, I have a sort of phobia that goes something to the effect of, "if you like the Blue Collar Comedy shows I'm afraid of you." I put this in the same category as, "I'm afraid of the extremely religious, the extremely conservative, the extremely ignorant," and so on. Oh, and "I'm afraid of the greeter at WalMart." Can't forget that one.

But seriously. This sort of comedy depends on three things. 1. That people feel proud of/defensive about their bass akward background. 2. That the audience has never really had any experience with the subject matter. 3. The charisma of the performer.

And that's it. If you can nail these elements you too can go on tv and say whatever ignorant, racist, homophobic, insensitive crap you want.

I applaud you InACorner for having enough of a personal identity to reject this sorry excuse for a comedy tour.

Here endeth my mad rant from my soap box.

I am sorry this upset you and worse yet that people who have not gone thru such abuse can still laugh it as though it is funny - I know... One mans fun is another mans horror - ((( hugs ))).

Man - being used as a general pronoun for male and female.

In a similar vein - what ticks me right off are the jokes about "rednecks" and incest. No part of incest is the LEAST bit funny. And I'm sure country folk are darned insulted by the suggestion. It happens in all socioeconomic classes. Rich people are just better able to hide it.

a friendd of mine named Gene told me a story about when he was a child...

he had an illness... something to do with his lungs.... it was such a serious matter that he was made to lay in bed for about six weeks...

normally he roamed the woods on the rear property... chasing squirrels, climbing trees.. watching bugs and such..

so to have to lay COMPLETELEY still for this long was a challenge...

he was not allowed to move until the healing was at a more developed stage....

nurses were required to turn the pages of the book if he wanted to read... he didn't care for that so he didn't read... just lay completely still for hours on end... day after day... week after week...

he wasn't allowed to laugh... it would year the healing loose...

he told me: "there ain't a thing in this life that's funny... not a thing in this world to laugh about... that doesn't in some way cause something, some type of harm...

but he could smile...

best wishes all ...
