I've tried to have sex with my boyfriend of eight months five times now, but it's practically impossible - three times I had to get him to stop because it hurt too much and the other two it still really hurt. Everything else we do together works fine and I really enjoy it, so I went to the doctor and he said it sounded like I have vaginismus. If anyone else has this and would like to talk about it I'd be very grateful, because I'm worried that now I almost expect pain from sex it's just going to make things worse, and it's so frustrating! My boyfriend keeps saying there's no rush but I know he likes it, and I really want to enjoy it as well.

Thanks, Miracle1986 - sorry you have it too, but good to know I'm not alone. I've wondered if something could be wrong "down there" since I was a teenager because I was never able to use tampons, but I guess this confirms it. My doctor said that dilators were an option (I'm not sure if you get gynos in the UK?), but he didn't want to "medicalise" it too early - so he's suggested just waiting a while before having sex again and see if that helps. Didn't specify how long "a while" was, I thought I was ready the last time so how I'll know the next time I have no idea...
