Hello,
I am not sure where to post this but I think here is an ok spot. just tell me if it is not,
I posted it here because I think that you might be able to give feed back or relate and we dont have a teen posting station where I could ask.

Well I was wondering what you think about what you should be when you grow up, wether you should do something that may not be stable but you belive in 100% and makes you happy or you should do something you might not like but you could have a stable home and money yo spare.

Some times we think that of corse you sould be happy but how we where raised we have known other wise. Well not we have been meating a lot of people that do what they want and are pashonite about 100% dont nessaceraly have a lot of money and have trubble getting by a lot,

Please give what you think,
I would love to hear,
Lavender

Personally?

I'd go for something that didn't pay as much, may not be a "stable" job, but made me happier.

At the same time though, I wanted to be a teacher. At the moment, I'm not on a career path towards that though, because there are a severe lack of jobs for teachers in my city and area. So instead I'm looking at a career helping people (which is what I've always wanted to do), just not in a teaching capacity.

Hope that helps. What are you looking at for a future career?

In another post I made, I talk about how I've finally returned to my passion in life, ballet. For years I had wanted to be a professional dancer, but ended up quitting because I got burned out from a new dance instructor (she basically ruined ballet for me). I didn't know what else to do, so I went to college. It took me 5 years and two schools and no degree to finally figure out that this wasn't working for me right now. I've decided to go back to ballet, which has been extremely hard, both physically and mentally. I'm also 23 and dependent on either my boyfriend or my parents at the moment (luckily, they all support me). Once I get more stable (in regards to mental health, which is definitely improving because of ballet), I'm going to get a part time job to help pay for my dance classes and household necessities. I don't think I'll ever be more than a choir dancer in a company, but at least I'm happy, which makes my life a lot better.

My advice is do what makes you happy, because if you're happy, you're more likely to be successful at whatever you do. Maybe you can't do exactly what you dreamed you'd do (being a teacher for Christina, being a principal dancer for me), but doing something along the same lines, that still makes you happy and pays the bills, what else would you need?
Thanks for this!

Go for what you want to do, not what pays more. Take the animal industry for example (because it's all I really know about)- working in a pet shop you can earn a decent amount of money, here I could earn up to $22 per hour. A lot of people go for that job because of the money. But then working as a vet nurse I may only earn $16-$18 per hour. There are people who pay thousands of dollars towards study to go for option 2. They are going to get less money and require more knowledge, but it's what they want to do with their life. I'd rather work a fun job that I loved and earn less, than work a crappy job I didn't enjoy and earn 3 times as much.

With my career being in a state of flux right now, I'm contemplating starting over with a new career. When I first went to college, I started out with a Middle Grades Education major, and in my sophomore year, I decided that I should change my major to something I would make money in, hence Accounting. The problem is though, that I don't care for the accounting world, but that's what my degree is in. So now I'm kind of stuck, not knowing what to do. With that being said, I am out on disability right now, for both physical and mental ailments, and I'm seriously considering not going back, but I don't know if it was just that place, or will I never be able to handle people in the office setting.

Anyways, IMO I would go with what you like doing, and not do something that will make you money. Unless, what you like doing will make you money.

Personally, I think what's important first is doing something that you're passionate about, even if that means it's a job that doesn't necessarily have the highest pay. Picture somebody in a high paying job, say, a dentist...but they HATE it. Doesn't sound like a fun life, right? Even if they have money to spare, there's no passion. I'd rather sometimes be a little poor and have a job I love than have a job I hate a be a little rich.

I tried to follow a money making career and made myself miserable. I had to take a step back, take inventory of what I wanted to be doing, what suited my temperament, skills, ailments, and could support myself with. I have had to go back to school for my decision but I can tell I am interested now and surprisingly looking forward to working. This is a definite change but a necessary one.

I think finding something you enjoy while making money at it, enough to support yourself, is the key and very fortunate if can find that combination.
