Yes I have ((bebop)). I had to have a biopsy after the ultrasound showed a suspicious area 4 yrs ago. They performed a newer procedure called a 'mammotone' - which sucks out the area in question. Thank God it turned out to be benign.

I realize it's hard not to think of the worst, but I promised myself I would try to contain my feelings/worries until I got the lab results. This mammatone procedure was brand new and unfortunately something bad happened. They have to compress the breast like they normally do during a mammogram - so the doctor was pushing the pedal down, but she had plastic clogs on and her shoe got stuck and she didn't realize it. The machine kept compressing beyond what it was supposed to. I yelled out in pain and she said "oh my God I'm so sorry". I was very upset that a 'doctor' could make this mistake.

I pray to God that if you have something it will be benign. Keep us posted.

Yes the thought of it popping did cross my mind and yes I was bruised. I was already nervous by having the procedure done and to have that happen, really made me upset. What was seconds seemed like an hour and it was such a panicky feeling because I was trapped. I mean they were such idiots because you could hear the mammogram machine noise. I truly think the doctor wasn't used to even operating that machine - usually technicians do it. Anyway enough about me - I didn't mean to hog your thread. Please let me know when you find out and you're in my thoughts and prayers ((Bebop))

Bebop, the odds are in you favor for benign. Stay occupied and try to keep your mind busy. I hope you can. Keep us posted.

I know I'm only 23 and really haven't had much experience with this type of thing. I did have a lump removed from my breast a few years ago (benign) and because of this my mother and I have talked about this subject quite a bit. I'm very small, and I often find lumps in my chest. My mother is also very lumpy. We've decided that women are really just naturally lumpier than previously believed to be in the past. I just wanted to tell you this because I hope it can help you relax a little. I can understand how scared you are, but keep thinking positive! We're all here to support you if you need it.

Keep us posted; best wishes!!

Exact same thing happened to me on Friday. I had the mammogram on Thursday and the radiologist called me Friday to come back in. I was freaking out. So I went in and the did the mammogram again and then the ultrasound. Everything was fine. They are just being careful. I totally undertsand you being worried. I was so worried. A million things went through my head.
I did have about 2 hours before the appt. so I went shopping. I am broke so I could only get a few things ,but it took my mind of waiting.
Hang in there. Don't let anyone tell you it is all in your head. You have a right to be worried. It is your body. I have faith you will be ok though.
On top of all that I had a bad Pap come back too. Just yesterday I had to have a biospy done. Double whammy. So far everything seems to be ok.
Thinking of you.

That's a good point you made RomanSunburn. I also have the same thing - it's called 'dense breasts'. High caffeine intake can also make them lumpier too.

Keep us posted as soon as you can ((bebop))

I have you in my thoughts. It is just so weird that the EXACT same thing happend to me. I even had my mammogram on last Thursday too. I did all the waiting and waiting. It was miserable.I had to wait through the weekend. Since I was seeing my GYN for the biopsy for the abnormal pap I decided to not call but wait to talk to her when I saw her.
She said if they see something even a small spot they are extra aggressive in making sure it is something normal. I have to go back in 4-6 months and have it repeated.(mammogram)
I hope you have the same outcome I did. I understand so much about the worrying. I got super emtional on Sunday. Tears out of no where.
The biopsy I had for the pap on Monday HURT so bad, but I am glad it is over and I am glad they decided to do it to rule out anything.
I will be praying and thinking about you.

Hi there! This just happened to me too. I had a mammogram done because my mom had breast cancer at 43 (I'm 34) The mam. found a lump and I was called back in for a ultrasound, then I had a biopsy done. The worst part was definitely the wait for the results. I expected the worse, because the dr. couldnt really tell if it was a tumor or a cyst. I just needed a yes or no! It came back benign and is a complex cyst that will be monitored. Stay positive, the waiting and not knowing is the worst part. Good luck and keep us posted!

I had a benign lump biopsied by ultrasound guided needle when I was in nursing school. They didn't bother doing a mammogram because my breasts were so dense. I chose not to have the lump removed because there was no chance of it turning into cancer. The wait was the worst part.

Hey, bebop. Sorry this crap is happening! I'm going through the same thing. I went in for a CT scan on my arteries and they accidentally found a lump on my thyroid!! They called me within 24 hours so I knew something was wrong and had to go in for an ultrasound on that the other day (day after my birthday......wooohooo) and am now playing the waiting game as well. We can play it together! I'm a total worry wort and go through about every possible scenario in my head and I know how much easier it is to say 'don't worry' than to actually do it.

But like what has already been said, it is very early and the chances of it being cancerous are low. Just be thankful that you live in a country which allows (fairly) easy access to women's care and that we have treatments for things like this. Whatever the outcome we are here to support you! If you ever need ANYTHING shoot me a PM. ((((((((((((((((bebop)))))))))))))))

Haha well look at me not hitting the 'next' button. I'm an idiot lol.

Well anyways I'm so happy everything came back okay! Is that something they can just leave alone? Will it need to be removed? I guess if it's a cyst they can just drain it? I'm not really up on my 'fibrocystic breast' knowledge lol

scared That's awesome ((bebop)). I had good feelings about this. I have the same kind of breasts and it's a benign condition. Reducing your caffeine consumption can help. I'm so happy and relieved for you. Here is an excellent website that explains fibrocystic breasts.
