Backround: I was experiencing on and off for about 3 years frequent episodes when my heart would start racing....it was scary. I was completely worked up by the cardiologist-and basically "you have a fast heart rate...." and was given medication to take as needed. So I started keeping a record of when these episodes would occur and noticed most were occuring 2-3 weeks before my menstural cycle-like clock work almost some months. (I was diagnosed with PMDD last year in the midst of the cardiac issue.) I ended up switching birth control pills, which didn't help. Then my husband and I talked in length and decided for me to try and go off the birth control pill completely. I have been off of the Pill since September and I have not had any cardiac issues: no palpatations that I need to take the medication to relieve.
I had a follow up appt with my cardiologist and everything's good cardiac wise! I'm just glad one thing in this mess is getting better. (My doctor is still puzzled why the birth control effected my heart rate so much, we know it was hormone related, but I apparently became so sensative to it.)

I had that happen with a bc pill as well, very sensitive to most pills though in some form or another. Changing pills made the difference, depending on the hormone combination, others do not affect me this way.
I am so glad you figured out what was causing it and are not having symptoms now. It can be scary otherwise, so I can truly understand your relief. I hope it continues this way and wishing you all the best! ![]() |
