I went with my husband to the barber shop and had a genuine barber, albeit a woman barber, cut my hair after I convinced her it would be all right. She kept explaining that she was a "barber" and only knew how to cut men's hair and she'd be giving me a man's haircut, etc. Apparently she'd had a bad experience with a woman who wanted her to cut her hair then complained when she wouldn't "style" it. This barber shop does have a woman's stylist but she wasn't in today. Anyway, I got my hair cut like a "man" but it looks fine to me!
Can most people really tell the difference between a "man's" cut and a woman's? I wear my hair short and the only difference I can see between this cut and the ones I get at the Hair Cuttery is that the back is "rounded" and the "layering" is done a bit differently. But are people going to point at me from behind my back and whisper that I got a man's cut? :-) I think the only one who will know the difference is the next "stylist" who cuts it.

Eh, as long as it looks cute to you, who cares?? LOL....I can't tell the difference honestly, all I know is that for my head shape, short hair doesn't look right. I think a "man's" cut on a woman is referred to as a "pixie" cut? I dunno, I think short hair is soooo cute though!

My hair is long, long and so must be good at cutting layers, so I dunno if I'd go to a barber. But, my gf has short hair and can go to a barber and like her hair just fine

Umm... no. A pixie cut is different from a man's hair cut if your talking about the standard cut for a man. A pixie cut has bangs and the sides brush out on the face... just like a pixie!
![]() How do I know? I used to be a beautician but also gave my men and husbands their haircuts... from a flat top to a mullet on my men. LOL

strange this topic came up today of all days, in the town near werre we used to live there is a man called jock he cuts hair be a males or a female but he is a barber, i took my youngest there today to get her split ends cut, but found them shut allday weds,
so i sent daughter to the hair dressers down the road from our friends to find out how much the same cut would be, £14 i will wait untill another day and go over try jocks again he cuts hair for around £3 i even have mine cut there and i used to have longish hair but strted having it cut short and tidy while i was working because of the dredded sweating he would take ages to do mine and still only charge £3 and mine is very thick, so i go with price and stick the stylist
