I liked the idea of having a poll every two days on Women's Specific Issues. Zen said she didn't know how to post one, so I thought I'd throw one out there.

that is very hard for me to answer. all the women friends except one I have ever had screwed me over. I do long for a good woman friend though. I have no friends around me. that stinks

I like having close female friends, but it seems I'm more likely to be close to guy friends...

I think good female friends are important, but guy friends are also great to have.

I don't think all the posts have to be "deep," Rayna...some can be fun or whatever. The first Women's poll

hmm i voted yes in the sense that my friends (whenever they exist) are very important to me.

To me, though, it doesn't much matter if they are guys or girls...actually lately i've been hanging out with more guy friends. (of course, those guys are gay so...)

good post The first Women's poll

My closest friend is a guy, but my girlfriends are incredibly important to me. I love all-girls weekends, long chats, giggling like teenagers, commisserating about woman-things... with my "sisters." I have always needed -- and benefitted greatly from -- strong (non-competitive) female friendships in my life.

i don't have a "best" female friend now. i had one for about 25 years and occasionally she would go off her meds. well, 5 or 6 times, she went off of them. i would take her to the Psych hospital and she would resume taking them and we would go on.

but the last time she went off them, the effects of it was so strong on me that i had to detach and quit seeing her. i've taken so much abuse, verbal, for so many years and as much as i love her......i can't do it anymore.

i miss her more than you can imagine. we told one another everything and we have the same warped, twisted, bizarre, dry and weird humour. plus she is also part Indian, so we related very deeply there.

typing this brings tears to my eyes. i haven't seen her in over a year. she is the only person that i took with me to photograph Indian rodeo. when our husbands cheated, we both went through the HIV tests together.....it was a powerful friendship.

i really would like to have a close woman friend IRL. i have several here, but i can't pick you up to go shopping or get a cup of coffee. The first Women's poll
