Ok this is strange and maybe kinda gross, but I have to get opinions here.

My period isn't due for another week. Last night, when I urinated, the paper had a pink tinge to it, and when I looked in the toilet, there were tiny little blot clots. I also kept feeling like I had to urinate, but hardly anything came out.

This morning after I got up and I went to the bathroom and urinated and it was kinda hazy with a reddish tinge, but the paper was clean. Just now I went and it almost hurt a little bit, not burning, just kinda aching, but no pink on the paper or in the bowl.

I'm a little concerned, as I've never seen this between periods. Could it be stress related? I've been under a LOT of stress.....I'm just wondering if I should call my doctor. Anyone ever experience anything like this?

Uh-oh.

Sounds like it could be a urinary tract infection. You might want to call the Dr. and start drinking cranberry juice. Um....blood between cycles? This is kinda gross.

What are the symptoms of UTI?

Not everyone with a UTI has symptoms, but most people get at least some symptoms. These may include a frequent urge to urinate and a painful, burning feeling in the area of the bladder or urethra during urination. It is not unusual to feel bad all over—tired, shaky, washed out—and to feel pain even when not urinating. Often women feel an uncomfortable pressure above the pubic bone, and some men experience a fullness in the rectum. It is common for a person with a urinary infection to complain that, despite the urge to urinate, only a small amount of urine is passed. The urine itself may look milky or cloudy, even reddish if blood is present.

Hello Rayna. I agree with Petunia it sounds like a Urinary tract Infection. Try to see a Dr soon UTI's can be rather painful if untreated. Take care of yourself. I hope you feel better soon Rayna. Soidhonia

Hi Raynaadi Um....blood between cycles? This is kinda gross.

I had a very similar thing happen to me. I forget what its called but I'll do my best to describe it to you. It's fibrous tissue kinda like a cyst shape near the neck of your cervix. Then you have blood discharge between periods. I went to my GP.......you know how that exam goes......... . And then to my GYN and she removed the fibrous tissue like cyst under 5 seconds.

Thanks so much for all the suggestions! I'm gonna get some cranberry juice today and keep an eye on it. As far as getting to the doctor and getting antibiotics, the co-pays are a problem, so hopefully the cranberry juice will clear it up. If not, I'll figure something out. There hasn't been more pain, and the urine is clear now, so I'll keep an eye on it.

LOVE that song!!!

OK, it was just a UTI. Got antibiotics for 5 days and I'm gonna continue the cranberry juice so I don't get a yeast infection from the antibiotics.

My doc actually DREW A PICTURE to explain to me why sex causes UTI's......she had me laughing so hard it hurt.

She said urinating directly after sex can decrease the start of a UTI, so girls, make sure you pee right after its over!!!! LOL!!!!

I don't know why I'm in such a good mood....

I'm glad you went to the Dr. Um....blood between cycles? This is kinda gross.

UTI's are like a rite of passage. I had my first one in the Bahamas whilst vacationing with a boyfriend. Nothing like having your very first internal exam with a Bahamian Dr. The office had no bathroom so they gave you a cup and a brown paper bag and sent you across the street to a business so you could pee in the cup and bring it back. I got the "pee after sex" talk too.Um....blood between cycles? This is kinda gross.

Cranberry capsules are great too, I liked them cause though I love cranberry juice, I can do without the extra calories, plus the capsules are more concentrated than the juice.
Just thought I'd share this here, For awhile I was taking them daily with my other vitamins/pills but sort of drifted, but I am definately going to start taking them again.
Blueberries are said to do the same thing, makes it hard for bacteria to cling to the wall of the bladder, I guess sort of a "slippery" effect? Don't know but it makes sense.
It is important to keep in mind, it is not always a cure, sometimes, even often for some people an antibiotic is necessary.
Take care now,
DE

My antibiotics are working already!! She must have given me a strong one, they even cause drowsiness. It didn't hurt this morning when I got up and urinated so I'm soooo relieved!!!!!! Still drinking cranberry juice. Can't afford the capsules right now, maybe some day lol.

Probably and UTI. I had the same exact thing. They don't do anything bad, they only give you antibiotics. It's an always wanting to urinate feeling and it burns sometimes and gives a weird color.

Embarassing story about mine....
I was in school and went to the bathroom 17 times from a school time of 7:45am-2:21pm and I went to the nurse since my mom told me to so maybe I would be sent home from school. The school nurse asks me if I'm sexually active and I said "yes". She then calls my mom at work with about 7 other kids around me saying "I believe your daughter Jessica has a urinary tract infection". I didn't know the kids were there till I turned around. So now those kids know I have sex and I have a UTI. Haha.

Oh man, she should be educated on privacy!

My grandma told me about one she had back in the day, and all I could think about was "Oh this mean Grandma was having a lot of sex" LOL!!!!!!

When I was in the Bahamas the Dr said, "So are you and your husband enjoying your honeymoon?" I said, "Oh this isn't my honeymoon. I'm not even married." His eyes grew wide until I said, "I'm here with my boyfriend..." Um....blood between cycles? This is kinda gross.

He told me I had a UTI, otherwise known as Honeymoon Cystitis. He asked if I had anymore questions and I said, "Can I still have sex?" Ah, the good old days. Um....blood between cycles? This is kinda gross. Um....blood between cycles? This is kinda gross.

Yeah the first thing my doctor asked was, "Are you having increased sex?" Uhhhhh, yeah. LOL!!! BF felt bad, but I told him it takes two....

I was leaving the office yesterday and then went back and whispered to the receptionist, "how long do I abstain from sex?" Hehehehe!!!!

Hahahahahahaha. I never knew it could be from sex? I always thought it was for people that aren't clean. Maybe that's what kids in school thought of me.

But when I told teachers or friends I said it was a bladder infection just to cover it up! Um....blood between cycles? This is kinda gross.

The doctor actually drew a drawing to show me why sex causes a UTI. I'll try to explain it here without it being too graphic.....

She drew a view of how she would see the female area if she were doing an exam. If you look it it that way, the clitoris is on top, then the urethra (where we urinate from) and then the vaginal hole. She said this: "Its a design flaw really. In order for sex to feel good, the clitoris needs to be stimulated, but its on top of the urethra. So the penis goes in and out of the vaginal hole, which brings all that bacteria up passed the urethra. The urethra is a just a short tube to the bladder where all the warm urine sits, which is the perfect medium for bacteria to grow." I cracked up with her whole design flaw thing. And this is also why if you pee directly after sex, you can prevent UTI's, because you're flushing out the bacteria that was just put there.

That's also why its important to wipe from front to back.

Don't know why I never knew these details until I was 28.....lol. So I'm glad I can share them with you Jess.

Haha. I was about to draw what you were trying to say but that would be a little weird if my mom found my drawing sitting on the computer desk! Um....blood between cycles? This is kinda gross.

But I understand now. I was always thinking "What does SEX have to do with this!? They're two different holes!"

Sex and genes; not everyone gets UTIs if the "spacing" is better and a lot of people do get it from the "not clean"/wrong way wiping situation :-) My vet explained that's why my boy cat gets UTI's more often than my girl and when he was neutered had to have "special" and daily change of litter for a week or two until he healed to make sure he wouldn't get infected.
