I'm looking into having an ablation done Bec I'm sick of my cycle & the cramps & everything about it.
Anyone have one done? Any info you can share?
Thank you!

I looked into it. Based on my research, a lot of women who have it done seem to have their original issues pop back up within a couple of years. I did not consider it to be worth the effort, pain or the risks (yes, the risks - that seem like nothing to the men who are performing the procedure but don't have to live it.)

P.S. Just read a post on here about Novasure and someone commented that 3 women she knows had good experiences with ablation . . .

Geez, great choices, huh?

My initial thought would be to go with ablation . . . I would expect it to be "easier" on your body. Thinking hysterectomy would be a last resort kind of thing - but, I admit I know nothing about how that procedure goes these days. Maybe seek a second professional opinion?

Another thought - have you ever considered Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM?) I have heard of women getting significant menstrual relief this way - I just don't have any personal experience or recommendations.

A few months ago my doctor gave me a pamphlet about ablation. When I saw her the other day she mentioned that she is not a fan of performing them right now due to fact that she had a patient(s) come in for procedure, put to sleep and then the machine they use for doing it didn't work. I think there are different ways to do it. She mentioned the other method they used to do is not FDA approved.

Because of this I will not be doing it. The anesthesia part is the worst for me.

This is my biggest fear actually. I'm not as worried about the procedure as I am about the anesthesia.
I've had horrid experiences with it & know it'll b extremely triggering. I wish I had someone to go with me. Hubby just said to call him when I'm done. Not very supportive & thinks I'm a pain in the booty.

Just an FYI.
I had the ablation a wk ago today. I made it through the anesthesia ok.
I was given Percocet for pain. I used them that day & the morning after. That's it. I've had trouble w/Percocet before Bec I "enjoy" it. So I got rid of them.

I do have discharge which they said is typical & will last 2-3 wks. Occasionally I do have some cramping but all in all I think everything went ok.

If anyone is looking to get this done I wish you women the best!!!

Ablation was a wonderful thing for me. Easy recovery, no period since.

Just an update if anyone is interested.

My ablation did not totally work the way I had hoped.
I still get my monthly! I was so hoping I wouldn't. I knew there was a chance that this might happen.
Now it has helped with some of the cramps & flow issues, but it hasn't been completed wiped out. From research I've read that I can get it done again & that my age also might be an issue. I've read that it works better for "older" women. I'm 46yo.

So I'm a bit disappointed & not sure I wanto go thru it all again just to get rid of it. I know if I see my OB again he'll recommend a hysterectomy which I don't want. At least not at this time.

So that's all the info I have & I hope it helps someone out there!
