Hi all, I just really need someone to talk to.
I found a lump in my right breast a few days ago. I'm not the greatest at doing self exams, so I'm a little concerned about how long it's been there. I don't believe it's been but a couple of weeks, if that. It's about the size of a marble and I can't really tell if its mobile or attached. It moves around, but feels like it's attached also. I had a total abdominal hysterectomy, keeping my ovaries, one month ago. If I were to start my period, it would be next week. Tonight I noticed that my breast itches on the side, similar to something I noticed the last time I had a period. I didn't really make note of it last time because I wasn't aware of a lump. My breasts typically swell before my period and I just attributed it to the swelling causing the itching. I do have fibrous breasts and they have always been lumpy, uneven. I've read and heard that I will likely have PMS symptoms, even though I won't have a period. Wondering if my hormones are just responding to the trauma of surgery, waking back up, and have caused a cyst to form. But remembering that my breasts itched last time has put me in a tailspin of anxious thoughts. Argh! And I can't really talk to anyone about this. I don't want to scare my family, my boyfriend is out of state caring for his ailing mother and I really don't want to add to his plate, and my girlfriend wasn't able to hang out with me tonight and texting to a friend this fear is not the way to go. I do have a Dr appt on the 9th, next Tuesday. I would just really like to hear some encouraging words. The fear is overwhelming. |

Sassy Mama,
I've had a couple of suspicious lumps. My doctor sent me for an ultrasound each time. There was nothing wrong. I was relieved. The latest one was due to not wearing a supportive enough bra for the type of activity I was doing (horseback riding). After being properly supported, the lump went down slowly over time. When I had my period, my breasts were always very tender and felt lumpier than normal. I had a golf sized growth taken out when I was a teenager. It was biopsied and the results were benign. I was really scared at the time though. I'm glad you are seeing your doctor on the 9th. ![]() |

I've found lumps before and they turned out to be non cancerous cysts. But yeah, scary as hell!! Don't know about you but the time after finding the lump and getting the relieving words from the doctor I was a basket case. It's all I could think about and played out a zillion scenarios in my head including the funeral! My mind just ran with it. I think that's not unusual though. It's a scary thing. Good that you got a doctor's appointment, being proactive is smart.
Work on distractions to help you through this period. The games section here is awesome for chilling out. Keep posting and take good care.

I have lumpy breasts. It is scary every time I find one, each one has been nothing to worry about and went away on its on. I do get each one checked as it is better to know but it is stressful. Hugs and I hope all goes well on your appointment tomorrow.

Sassy Momma,
That's definitely very scary. I have very lumpy breasts, and my Dr. has found 5 lumps which all turned out to be benign cysts. But each time, while I'm waiting for tests I get freaked out. I think that's normal. Hope you get good news. And keep posting here, we're here to support you. splitimage |
