i'm new here, this is my first post.
things have been getting worse and worse lately financially. now we're at the point where we hvae to come up with 4000$ by the end of the month (two weeks) or we'll lose our house. we can't pay our bills. we can barely buy groceries to feed our family. my husband is in the process of retiring from the military, and he has a job lined up that pays extremely well, but first we have to survive until then. i'm so scared they're going to take our house. and right before christmas too. the mortgage company won't work with us, we already tried that. they just sent us the foreclosure notice. i don't know what to do anymore. there's other things going on too, but this one is the worst. i'm so scared. |

Most states have a redemption time period. Find out what your state has as the allowable time. Foreclosure from the bank does not mean you have to get out right away. You could have 4-9 months.

Thank you for your encouraging words! We are waiting to find out if we can get an AER loan (Army Emergency Relief), and if not, our plan is to drag things out until we can pay them off. We do not want to lose the house. It's good to know that those things take time.

You need to talk to an attorney. Best of luck.

Like Bebop says, they really want you to keep your house. This is NOT the market to be saddled with a house to sell - the mortgage company knows this. I'm surprised they're not trying to work with you. Have you asked for help? Usually they automatically put you in the Home Modification Loan Program to see if you're eligible.
I cannot imagine they would start foreclosure proceeding over $4K. That would cost them more than that. Good luck.

Hi, whenwillitend,
Try this site: https://www.naca.com/index_main.jsp NACA is a respectable organization that has helped tens of thousands out of the fix that you are in at present. In case you need to google it yourself, the full name is Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America. I personally know people they have helped and will shortly be looking to them myself. There are many others in your situation, even right here on PC. We're all together. Take care! ![]()

This is a very true statement. At least in Pennsylvania it is. Do some reasearch on your state laws regarding forclosures and speak with a lawyer as soon as you can. I know they cost money but most will do a free consultation and you can find out important information that way. Go to the library and research as much as you can.

Thank you all! My husband has an appt with the ACS guy this afternoon, we shoudl find out then if we they're going to help us or not. As for talking to a lawyer, we're military, so I'm assuming we could talk to JAG, for free. I hadn't thought of that. Thanks! I"m still hoping it won't come to that.
And everything with the new job is dragging out. Now they're saying it will be around christmas. He needs to go! The sooner the better! We were hoping he'd be gone by now. Saw my pdoc today, she wanted to stick me back into the hosptial, just in case we get bad news today. I said no. I feel I can handle it now. I hope anyway. |

I understand where you are coming from. My husband and I were served forclosure papers several months ago. Now we have a court date in July. This process takes a long time and the mortgage company doesn't want your house. Our company has been very difficult to deal with but the help of a legal aid lawyer we have gained a little head way. We are working toward a loan modification and now that my husband is working again (after nearly 2 years unemployed) we are hopeful that a modification can occur before we actually get to the court date.
Hang in there. |

Thank you!
Noone was able to help us, so on the 28th our house is going into foreclosure. Merry Christmas to us. Good thing is, we should get our tax return by the end of January, and with that we'll be able to pay off the mortgage debt and get our house back out of foreclosure. That's what I'm hanging on to now. |

I'm really sorry that your house is going into foreclosure, that really sucks especially at the holidays. I really hope that you're able to get current on your mortgage like you say in January.
Good luck. --splitimage |

So today is the day. Today our house goes into foreclosure. I'm kinda numb. don't know what to feel. I am scared. It's the not knowing what's going to happen next. How this whole process works. How much time we have. I just want all this done and over with.

i'm so sick and tired of not having any money. friday is payday, and we're going to have 150$. woohoo. how are we going to pay all the bills and get food? it's that damn truck my hsuband bought. the payments are killing us. he knows it was a mistake, but now there's nothing we can do about it. we tried trading it in for something cheaper, but they wont' let us. noone will because of our mortgage situation. makes no sense. i know we made a lot fo mistakes, but we learned from it. we're ready to move forward. but it's so damn hard. the tax chek won't even cover everything. we're too far behind. plus, we need money to get us through february. husband's retirement pay won't kick in until march, and his new job hasn't even started yet. i don't want to worry about money anymore. i want to get this all straightened out, have a fresh start.

We've been in foreclosure but not had eviction papers tacked to the door. That's when it's really bad, like you have just a few weeks to get out. We went March to November before getting the money together to reinstate our loan. But without jobs we're back into loan modification which we can't qualify because we don't have jobs. But, it will buy us time again. I know you love your house - me too, been here 21 years - but when the hand writing is on the wall..........you can't afford to turn your back. Good luck. Let us know how it's going.

We don't want to do that. And we don't really have to, we just need a little more time. In about a month we'll have plenty of money. My husband is finally starting his new job, and his pay is great. Plus he'll be getting his retirement check from the Army. We just have to make it one more month.
