I am new to this forum. When I post its usually over in the bipolar forum, so hello
![]() Does anyone here work weekends only and enjoy it? I foolishly gave up my position last year due to a manic episode. The hours were perfect for me, Mon-Fri. 1st shift. I would never have given it up if I wasn't in that state. It was a flip decision, partly because I was angry at my boss. Now my hours are 2nd shift Sat, Sun, Monday. I like the staff I work with and I like the job but can't seem to get over the fact that I am working every weekend. It's really the only thing available to me at this company right now. So if you do work weekends how do you make it work for you? |

other then football nothing is on tv on the weekends. shopping is less crowded during the week. if you don't party friday and saturday night and don't go to church on sunday really no different unless you have a spouse who works M-F.

I don't know what you do but I always found working weekends to be less stressful. People are more relaxed because the "big" bosses are not there. There also seems to be less work to do so it is lessed rushed. I enjoyed having time during the week to make doctor appointments, hair appointments, etc.

I worked only weekends when in college. Friday night, Saturday night, and all day Sunday. It's a pain. You're working when everyone else is off, but you do what you've got to do. It's money and it's keeping you busy. Show you're dependable and trustworthy and let them know that when something more preferrable opens up you'd be interested. I wouldn't think it would be too long before you have something more to your liking.

I work Saturdays, plus three evening shifts during the week.
Not having Saturdays for joining my friends & going to special events is something I may never fully adjust to ... but not having to deal with the stress of the full office staff being present (& politicking, etc), having the bosses mostly gone, working the lesser-volume traffic periods? I've adjusted to all that quite well. I enjoy my joy so much. If I don't think about what I'm missing those three nights a week and Saturdays, the stress of the job itself is very low. For a bipolar alcoholic, I think I made the better choice ... it's been several years, and I've never been seriously tempted to change anything for longer than my self-imposed 24-hr think-it-over period. Thanks you guys! You made me feel much better.
It's true it is more low-key and less stressful which is good for a bipolar person like me. Oh yes, the shopping and appointments and stuff. I never really have to worry about missing a Dr.'s appointment. I guess I have to, like you said Roadie, to stop thinking about what I'm missing and appreciate whats good about it. ![]() |
