One of my co-workers went off on me, going on and on about something that was not my fault and not in my control. She went on and on and on and on. After trying to respond rationally to her (trying to explain to her who made the decisions she was angry about)-- which she ignored and continued to repeat herself, I finally said "this is not in my control" and I walked away. I could still hear her angrily repeating herself.

She seems to think it is okay to snarl at me as if I were the boss or the powers that be, but I know she knows I am not, because she feels safe snarling at me, when she wouldn't so much as squeek at one of the bosses.

Just another day in Upside down Town.

Good for you for walking away. Next time (sorry, there may be one) I hope you walk away sooner. Sort of like training her/him that it is falling on deaf ears....You are not the office punching bag, so don't take it. Not in your job description...right?!
I hope you have a great rest of the day

Actually I do think many companies do allow some people to be the "office punching bag"; sort of institutionalized bullying. But you are correct. I'm no one's punching bag nor am I her mother and I think I've been polite and forbearing long enough. I could feel my last nerve snap as I took that liberating stroll away from her. Thanks for your insight.

My anger issues at this time won't allow me to do that...haha

Seriously though...so sorry you had to go through that...but so proud that you showed who the better person was!

That is disruptive behavior. She is being agressive not assertive and should be confronted about how she deals with co-workers.

I agree. She's also misdirecting her aggression. But the dynamics are such that it is more politic for me to not confront her. This twisted place where I work is loaded with (un)employment land mines. The best solution is to exit the building--permanently. And I'm working on that strategy! Meanwhile I must find coping strategies.

It sounds like she needs to be at this web site and not you. Good for you for standing up to her, saying what you did , and walking away.
