I am trying to apply for a part time job this summer (i am a high school student). There is no place on the application to mention any mental disorders, and that makes me wonder if i should tell them at all. There is a place that says, "do you have any issues that might affect the quality or ability to do the job?" If I was going to mention it, should I put it there? Or should I just not bother telling them if the condition is being treated and is under control?

They did not ask so I wouldn't volunteer it. Good luck!

I agree with the answers above... it's a "need to know" thing. If you think they need to know then tell them. Otherwise it's none of their business.

if you want to get a job, it is best to not disclose a mental disorder. if you want to mention that you are on medication (if you are) and that you need to make sure you have access to it when you need it, that would be fine to put on an application, but there is no need to explain further. it's none of their business if they ask and you don't want to tell. they can't fire you or refuse to hire you because you are taking medicine. i don't know where you live, but here in the US it's illegal to discriminate against a disability.

I had asked a similar question a while back and the prevailing wisdom seems to be that unless you think your diagnosis would cause an issue, then don't disclose. The question you encountered on the application is sometimes used as a sneaky way of getting around the American's with Disabilities Act that prohibits employers from asking such questions outright.
