All,

I'm the finalist in a job that I think would be a pretty good match. I've been working with a headhunter and have done the following:

*Prep interview -- preliminary "got your resume" thing -- 1 hr
*In depth interview with headhunter -- 2 hrs
*Asked by headhunter to fill out extensive online profile -- 4 hrs of essays, etc
*Preparatory interview with headhunter to prepare me for....
*Interview with organization's search committee on the phone.

During the interview with the committee on the phone, the headhunter introduced everyone via a conference call and then proceeded to tell me that my interview would be recorded.

I have so much invested in this whole exercise, but the idea that my interview would be recorded, and shared (where? how often? With whom?)

I didn't say NO, but now I wish I would have. I no longer want this flipping job!

But I wanted to know if others had a similar experience? Maybe I'm living under a rock?

This is a new one for me!

Oh, I am plenty old....and getting jaded too!!
Makes my current gig look more acceptable. Nobody is recording me....(at least I think not).

Pretty standard for jobs that are important or confidential. I've been on a couple recorded interviews, even been on a recorded lie detector test...that one sucked. Its probably being recorded for HR or for someone who makes the official hiring decision. I highly doubt they keep it for very long. There really wouldn't be a point for that.

No...it isn't. I have investigated this with a lawyer who says it is NOT standard unless_some kind of security check is mandated. Plus this lawyer confirmed that asking for assent at the beginning of the interview--- without warning--- amounts to duress.
It is not standard, nor okjay with me, and not somewhere I want to work!!!!

Give it a go use the practice they allow. If u don't get the job practice practice adding this to your repertoire. Ask for accommodation if your disabled if not willing move on toxic employers do stuff like this when they busy understaffed don't take so many applications, I say. Recording is a totally different animal, just like writing on here and trying to convey it in person.

Thanks for the input! Even though this isn't a place I want to work, I'm glad I had this happen.

I will be prepared next time!

Adding it to my repertoire!
