Just lost my job, that I was really hating. Who wants to finish a college degree to end up at a filing cabinet all day? I have a depth of computer skills, know the documents upside down and backwards, yet they put in front of a file cabinet in a crampt corner for 8+ hours a day. No thanks. Yes I lost it. I mean really. I'm not a trained monkey.

I can't afford an attorney, or to move out. So now what? My car broke down and is taking basically all the money I earned to fix. Hate that piece of ****. I want a new life, oh year right, no returns or exchanges.

I really want to sign the joint divorce now. I'm just done.

I'm going to be early.

Sounds like you have been through a lot. Did you quit or were you fired? If you were let go, I would try for unemployment. Also, look at employment sites on the web (monster, career builder, indeed, etc). Also, state jobs might interest you. I have a heart for people (to my detriment sometimes) so pretty much since 2002 I've worked for the state in some capacity or another. But it makes me feel like I'm helping people and making my little part of the world better, which helps out with my mental state because I get really overwhelmed if I think about everything that's wrong in the world.
Another option depending on how much your illness effects you is filing for disability. I would probably check with my psychiatrist and psychologist about what their thoughts would be about that first, though. And check with the lawyer, but I think it's done on a contingency fee, where they don't get a retainer, but get a percentage if you win so you only pay for court costs if you lose. Of course, this process takes a lot of time and you want to check around and get a good lawyer.
Also, check into food stamps and Medicaid, and see if you qualify for TANF (not sure what it's called now but it was Temporary Assistance for Needy Families). You can go in person and some (maybe all?) states have them where you can fill them out on line.
Best of luck to you. Losing a job is never easy, especially this time of year.

I do have disability. Since 2008. I'm just trying my butt off to get a semi normal life going. Sometimes I just feel like why even try?

I have so much drive, so much, it is partially why I cracked in the first place. Nothing goes according to plan, and I can't kill myself as much as I wish I could. I need money to write songs, my hobby, and I need money to get a place to live. Disability is too limiting. I want more out if life.

Adding meds is makin me volitile. Normal abilify worked well for me, this generic version caused said outburst. I told the supervisor in an angry tone that I will not file all day.

Hi Aviza,

If you are on disability then you qualify for Ticket To Work. This is a program that helped me get off disability and back to a full time job. I was on disability for 10 years for depression.

Ticket To Work lets you get services from Vocational Rehabilitation. You go there and they give you some tests (not like school tests - things like reaction time and spacial reasoning and dexterity etc.). I found it interesting. They use those tests to assess your strengths and weaknesses so that they can come up with a list of occupations that might be good for you. Then you choose a job to work towards (either one from their list or one that you find interesting). If you need training to be qualified for the job they will get that training for you. Your job counselor and you come up with a plan that will prepare you for that job. All of this is free under the Ticket To Work program.

While you are working on your plan, Social Security postpones your periodic reviews. This means that you will be able to complete your plan (and continue receiving benefits) even if you get better enough so that you no longer qualify for disability.

If you don't need training (or finish training that you did need), they will help you to find an appropriate job.

I was a software engineer before my disability, but couldn't return to that career because it was too stressful. My Ticket To Work plan included getting a master's degree in Library Science, and now I am a public librarian (which I love).

Maybe Ticket To Work could help you. Let me know if you have questions about it.
