I was very impressed with the Temp agency. I went twice today, just got back from filling out paperwork for over an hour. They told me to call them Friday afternoon to see how things worked out. I also have an interview for a housekeeping position at Hampton Inn and Suites, which the back and forth between emails seemed promising.

So what if I was offered positions by both the housekeeping and temp? What would be the pros and cons? I don't know what to do. I really want to get into housekeeping, but with temp I'll be doing all sorts of things I'd never be able to do if I tried to find them on my own and I'd be able to create my own schedule, set up when I want to work, be able to take breaks when I need to, and work when I want to. I may like some of the people I work for, and some I won't. But with housekeeping, it's hard work, but it's a very respectable job and I will be making more money than as a temp and it is a career move.

What do I do?

I'm all for stability and consistency, so housekeeping sounds good. Also, does the temp provide health insurance? With the housekeeping, your schedule may be somewhat flexible.

I have learned to do what your heart desires. Too many young people chase after the money but are miserable, unhappy. If you desire housekeeping then go for it. If you love your work and job it will show. That gets management's attention. I did housekeeping before and i did love it. Blessings.

Yes, it does. But I still have three more years until I absolutely need it (currently under my parents' insurance)

Well here's the thing, I've wanted to do housekeeping since I was 4 (I practically grew up at the Embassy Suites), but what if I get hired on and I absolutely hate it or if the Hampton managers are awful and I regret choosing the housekeeping over the temp? Or what if I choose temp and I regret not going with the housekeeping and learn the trade I've always wanted to do?

If I go with housekeeping, I can learn to be an elite housekeeper and work for five-star hotels all around the world.

If I go with temp, I can develop skills that may put me in a better position farther down the road and maybe instead of being a housekeeper I can be a front-desk agent or a manager for a five star hotel and get paid better than a housekeeper and not have to do such laborious work.

But, in the end, I want to work for hotels. That's my dream job is to travel the world and work in the career-field of hospitality.

You can always go back to the temp place. Just tell them that you received a permanent job offer. If your dream is to work in hotels, that's where I'd start.
Thanks for this!

It's such a difficult choice...I've been going back and forth debating this all day.

I think go for the hotel job. Like the poster above said, the temp agency can take you back later. They are always hiring.

That is very true...career vs going from job to job...and in regards to housekeeping, it sounds like the temp agency won't put me in housekeeping jobs or that kind of hospitality.

I spent all my time thinking about which job should I choose, whether I'll even get a job, how am I going to pay my bills, when I realized as I was walking out the door that I didn't even plan out what I was going to say! I drove over there with butterflies in my stomach, thinking "This interview will determine my fate".

I was so nervous, I almost threw up this morning. I've never once been so nervous about a job interview, but with the clock ticking to be able to pay my bills on time, I was so scared I'll have to start the search all over again.

Well, believe it or not, this was the first interview that I WOW'ED my interviewer! Everything went so smoothly, I didn't stop to think or was stuck on any question, and this was the first time where I felt like we were having a natural conversation where both the interviewer was interviewing me and I was interviewing him which is something that doesn't so often happen but I believe absolutely needs to be done! I was so blown away with how he treats his workers like a team, pays for uniforms, serves breakfast for us workers each day plus coffee, and he even pitches in with anything and everything that needs the extra help, and he encourages us workers to do the same. I didn't feel like I had to fake or BS anything, and when he told me he was glad to have met with me, he said it so sincerely and genuinely like he was thrilled to be interviewing me.

He told me that he may call tomorrow but not to freak out if I don't hear from them by no later than Monday because the weekends are always the busiest.

But I think I got myself a FT job!
Thanks for this!
