I see successful people and try to just copy what they are doing.

Today another woman sent out a group email with her website promoting an event that I had been a Chair two years ago. She really has it all together in business. Great looking website, office, business.

I, that year, had fallen apart and couldn't even see through my job. They gave me Fundraising. The gathering donations for a Silent Auction. No one else would step up to be on my committee. I did get them a lot of nice donations though. And I didn't let them down because I told the head of this that I couldn't do the job anymore and was by myself-- ridiculous.

If you don't have the motivation, nothing will work. If you have the motivation, it may work.
Thanks for this!

My motivation is to keep working, but not get overwhelmed. Not an easy feat.

The motivation must be tough in commission only jobs.

Not that I practice this perfectly but I think planning and scheduling is key. You have to schedule times when you are going to concentrate on just ONE thing but definitely not overschedule. In retrospect, sometimes I became overwhelmed and exhausted from working to much (or maybe it was untreated mental illness).

Copying successful people makes sense. You are in a competitive business so it must be hard to find good mentors. There are many jobs I have had where I was only successful because my supervisor took the time to encourage and advise me. When bosses are like that, you feel less anxious while navigating the "learning curve". If you know your supervisor wants you to succeed and believes in you, it is extremely helpful. I hate bad bosses!

Anyways, I no longer have a job or career but I hope yours takes off. I bet your clients enjoy working with you. Likability and trust has to be an important factor and I bet most people find you to possess both of these qualities.
Thanks for this!

It's overwhelming just to be average these days, to have a decent job. Besides, success as defined by society norms is largely an accident or chance.
Thanks for this!

People do like working with me. You would not believe what I just had to go through trying to get some paperwork done right for this transaction. Some other professional making mistakes, could have cost me the sale, and I was so nice, she calls me 'girlfriend'.
