So I work in the IT field on a small helpdesk. Well long story short we keep track of a daily amount of tickets we closed. Since I've started I don't close as many as everyone else. Well today my boss changed the title of the group chat that we use to communicate with this I'm experiencing mixed feelings with how I should take this. One part of me is mad. One part is saying he's just trying to get me to do better. However either way i'm a bit embarrassed by it.

I would ignore it and just take it as a (stupid) joke!

I think the professional thing for your boss to do would have been to take you aside, just the two of you, and explain that you are coming up short and need to close more tickets. What he did was not cool, in my opinion.

Unless you are extremely unhappy with the job and are giving serious thought as to quitting, I would suggest you just try to focus and do your best and slowly get your ticket closes up to par. If it's obvious you're improving, people shouldn't be giving you crap. |

That was an obnoxious thing for your boss to do. That is absolutely NOT the way to help someone improve their performance. He should have had a private conversation with you if it is was a concern. It's one thing for a coworker to pull a prank like that, different if it's a boss.
Have you thought about why you don't close as many tickets? What % of your tickets get reopened compared to people who close quite a few? Are other people grabbing all the low hanging fruit? |

Well long story short I never said anything to my boss or coworkers about it. I think i've determined what it is. My boss doesn't dislike me or was trying to pick on me. He's just an idiot. I'm not being mean or hurtful when I say this. He just doesn't express himself well and doesn't think things through before doing it. His interactions with me the last few days show me he's an okay guy just not the brigthest bulb in the bunch when in comes to behavior and social interactions in the office place. However no matter what I'm going to do my job the best I can for as long as with the company.
